The Detroit Cobras are a garage-rock revival band formed in 1995 by guitarist Steve Shaw, who was inspired by time spent with Big Star legend Alex Chilton listening to classic RB, gospel, and '50s rock roll sounds. Shaw recruited fellow Detroiters Maribel Restrepo on guitar, Jeff Meyer on bass, and Damian Lang on drums to fill out the instrumental lineup, with ex-butcher and exotic dancer Rachel Nagy handling the vocals.
