    Pros: Ultra fast

    Cons: Disappointing end

I wonder why I didn't feel like reading Da Vinci Code earlier. I might have read someone's rant about it a long time back and forgotten it. I borrowed the book this Sunday from a friend after he gave quite a bit of enticing snippets from it. ...Well, the book is indeed super-fast but you can stop reading around Chapter 100. No, the Holy Grail isn't found till that chapter but it doesn't make a difference -- and that's a big hint and spoiler. After making tall claims in the beginning of the book, Dan Brown chickens out in the end. At best it's a sensationalist thriller and at worst a rider of the feminism wave. I should've known when I read the praise on the book cover mentioning Harry Potter. He must be credited, though, for the excellent build-up of mystery until around the 90th chapter. It's just too difficult to stop reading anywhere before that. Recommendation: Read until Chapter 90 and then toss in your dust-bin. Read more Less

    Amazing read

    Pros: interesting, suspensful

    Cons: none

Although it is fiction, the author did do extensive research into the Vatician, the Opas Dei, and Leonardo DaVinci. There was already the mystery over Mary Magdelene and this book just brought it to the public in a very suspensful, (at times) realist...ic way. You don't have to agree with every thing in the book to enjoy it. It is short and an incrediably quick read. It's difficult to put down. I loved it from page one onwards. I highly recommend this book to anyone, from the very religious to the atheists because there is something in the book for everyone to enjoy. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: The Da Vinci Code

  • Enhanced Muze Note

In this gleefully erudite suspense novel, Mr. Brown takes the format he has been developing through three earlier novels and fine-tunes it to blockbuster perfection.

  • Enhanced Muze Note

[I]f this novel doesn't get your pulse racing, you need to check your meds.

Publisher Notes: The Da Vinci Code

  • While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call: the elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum. Near the body, police have found a baffling cipher. While working to solve the enigmatic riddle, Langdon is stunned to discover it leads to a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci -- clues visible for all to see -- yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.
Langdon joins forces with a gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, and learns the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion -- an actual secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci, among others.
In a breathless race through Paris, London, and beyond, Langdon and Neveu match wits with a faceless powerbroker who seems to anticipate their every move. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle in time, the Priory's ancient secret -- and an explosive historical truth -- will be lost forever.
THE DA VINCI CODE heralds the arrival of a new breed of lightning-paced, intelligent thriller... utterly unpredictable right up to its stunning conclusion.
