I thought this movie was alot of fun. The opening scene with the shuttle was nothing less than exhilarhating, and there was lots of good science sprinkled throughout (fictional and non-fictional). I took my 10 and 5 year old to watch it, and they lov...ed it. Too bad the Sagan-like character had to use the *F* word towards the end. Hey Hollywood......is this really necessary??!! I love movies that make me think. Could this really happen. I did have a problem with the Hurricane, and the earth had no circulation. My mind just doesn't understand how that happens. Pros: This movie has become my favorite movie. . .

Cons: None

I disagree strongly with the critics and the pessimistic audiences that have forgotten what excellence is all about. Its not good enough to just sit around watching un-"reality TV", drink beer, smoke pot, and let you life pass you by. Plays...tation has taken over for reading, learning, and real self-improvement. The Core flies contrary to the idea that low expectations are good enough. The Core is about people like me who jump in to life and try to make the world a better place, 3 people at a time. The Core is about real people like me, who I work with, love, and care about who use their brains to solve real world technical and relationship problems. People who are not willing to just sit back and belch from the sidelines. Not that the drinking scene with Serje and Josh doesn't have a place in the movie. Been there, done that. When some Earth shattering technical problem has come up, and my client is to the point of screaming, in walk the problem solvers: ME. I know other techies who love the Core to the point of watching it once a week. Its a real morale booster after a tough day underground, restarting the cores in our techy lives. However, the movie is not for people with low expectations who don't care about knowing why their car won't start, why the hot water heater won't heat, and the stove has burned out for the 3 time this year. Or why their heating bill has gone through the roof. Thats probably why the critics and the original audiences who rated this film were probably not the majority of us techies who love this movie. I guess it is a sign of the times. The average American has sunk further into complacency and degeneration. Sad! Read more Less

Cons: just about everything

I just bought a home theater system, and was anxious to try it out. Unfortunately, a really bad movie is still a really bad movie, even if it's in surround sound. A totally unbelievable plot. Don't waste your time or money.
