Purple Pleasures :)
Pros: Heart-touching characters & tremendous actors!

When I read the book, it took me to a world far far away...I cried, I laughed, I loved it!
But when I watched the film, I was mesmerized!
It's a beautiful depiction of all the characters, better sketched in the movie I believe.
Whoopi & Oprah were by far my favorite actors in this most memorable movie. Definitely worth being in everyone's dvd collection! :)Was this review helpful? Yes - Noi liked the way she handled danny glove

This is my all time favorite movie, I must have watched it over 300 times. I first saw it in 1986 and watched it every Sunday afternoon for 2 years straight. This year alone I have seen it 5 times. This is a classic. Oprah was superb as Sophia. My sister and I can act out the entire movie because we watched it so much.

The color purple is my favourite film of all time because it says it all!!! The most important issues of life are depicted here! I've seen it thousands of times and I still cry watching it! The Academy hypocrisy kept it from winning the 11 awards it SHOULD have won, but unfortunately i's the way it works!!! Brilliant moving performances, amazing adaption from Alice Walker's masterpiece, heart breaking, joyfull,and majestic soundtrack and an incredible photography!!!! So for me it's quite transparent that this is an extraordinary achievement in every department and should be treasured as an important document of life.

I love The Color Purple, it is one of my all time favorite movies. It has excellent performances, beautiful cinematography and it has a very good musical score. But i think the standout performances in the movie were by Whoppi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Margaret Avery and Danny Glover, they were all terrific. I think that this movie should have gotten all 11 Academy Award Nominations. I have watched this movie millions of times and it keeps on getting better everytime i see it. This one is definetly A MUST SEE if you haven't seen it yet.

I love this film. It is the best movie ever made. Every Acadamy award it was nominated for it should have won. Whoppi, Oprah, Danny. This is thier crowning acheivement. Speilsberg's best work. This is one of the greatest movies of all time!
