The energetic Detroit-based Capitols capitalized on mid-'60s RB dance fever with one of the most memorable entries of the genre, "Cool Jerk." Successful local producer Ollie McLaughlin signed the trio -- lead singer Sam George, Donald Norman (who wrote most of the group's material under his real surname of Storball), and Richard Mitchell -- to his Karen logo, and the irresistible "Cool Jerk" made them an overnight sensation.
