Great Movie

i thought this was a very good movie. it didn't focus on the horror aspect of it but more on the caractors. i recamend this to any movie fan

Cons: It is in French
This movie had everything you could want: sex, revenge, fighting, swordplay, the supernatural and good plot twists. Most importantly it featured French guys getting clobbered by an American through the entire movie. What is not to love?

in pre revolution France. Obvious flaw: vietnamese-looking actor to play "iroquois" blood brother and do oriental martial arts? ridiculous. This apart, outstanding mystery, character and lots of action. deserves more recognition than it got in the USA, probably because no helicopters, explosions or obscenities that are standard Hollywood staples.

Never before has a movie scared me to the point that I can not blink. This movie was one of the best of all time. The french really know how to make a good movie. The cinematography was so great. I fell in love with the movie during the opening seens, not to mention the plot was well planned out. I enjoyed this movie much better then hollywood movies that have really common plots.

I, like most others, really enjoyed this film. Amazing camera work, recreation of the countryside and the film really engulfs you to the point that you are standing amidst the rain looking up the nose of the beast. I'll be picking this up on Oct. 1. One of my all time favorites.

This movie was about as fun to watch as being dragged through broken glass. THe only people who could enjoy this movie are people who have never even visited the planet earth (see other reviews). The action consisted of the same roundhouse kick 100 times. The plot isn't losely based on true events. It isn't even losely based on the laws of nature or physics. I would recommend this DVD only if you were deaf and blind.

One of the best films I've seen since "Scarface", I highly suggest that you get this on DVD NOW, even with the english subtitles, this movie rocks. Watching Mark Dacascos's in action is like riding a roller coaster, over all, great story and great creature effects.

I suppose some might find the movie a little silly, but aside from the fanticiful nature of the film, it is one of my all time favorites. I suggest at LEAST renting this film once it's available. I think you'll find the action quite amazing, and being a sound engineer, "The audio kicks butt, great soundtrack." BUY THIS DVD!!! But save one for me.

Great flick but the American Edition bites compared to the Canadian release coming out. Look for that! Just like the weak Ginger Snaps that Artisan released, the Canadian edition was so much better. If the American edition is lacking, why the hell spend your hard earned money on it when the Canadian one is easily available and it offers what we want out of it.Hopefully it will contain most of the massive three disc edition released in Europe which unfortunately lacks english subtitles.

Crouching tiger hidden dragon left me awe struck and with a craving for another Brilliant movie of its type. Well guess what, brotherhood is it. This movie is a must see with its action packed and historical story line.

The first subtitle film I ever watched completely. It was a wonderful movie full of suspense, horror, action, romance, and wonderful cinematography. The storyline does a great job of keeping your attention. On top of that, it is loosely based on actual events in Southern France. Simply put, watch this film.

I saw this movie in the theater and read it in subtitles. It was wonderful, full of suspense and I could identify with the characters. A must see movie if you like action fighting, horror, special effects, adventure, suspense, mysterious, romance, drama, sensuality, humor, wonderful story line, and most of all a awesome ending. A very real edge to the movie. Wonderful performances!

Don't let the critics fool you into thinking that this film is a failed multi-genre attempt, because they have missed the point entirely. Whether you like world cinema or not, this is one of the most stylish films ever made.
Does Brotherhood of the Wolf conform to Hollywood "morality tales"? Absolutely not (we're sick of those anyway), which is why it seems to be lifted to cult status already. It contains excellent cinematography, solid acting, a thorough plot and some gratuitous horror/violence.
In short, the film is not trying to copy multiple genres, but contains everything you would like to see in a film of this type. See it, rent it, own it!

I dont know what those guys are talking about, I got the DVD back in November 2001. GREAT movie, based on a true story of a beast in the south of france just prior to the revolution. Emilie Duquenne is pretty cute too!

Great Movie..Can't wait for the DVD version to come out. It was very different from the way the movie was adverised. If you like the movie (From Hell), where there is a mystery to solve and great fighting sequences plus the great setting (back before the French Revolution time period) you will like it. Mark Dacascos show his fighting skills and Monica Bellucci show her beauty skills too. It may be alittle long and subtitled but it was worth it. The beast needed a little more work but the other characters made the movie. What hooked me was the way the movie was shot. It showed the landscape close-up much like it you were watching a 3-D movie. Once you see it you'll understand.

I'm writing this before its sale, but will surely buy it when it is. From the mixed reviews (hated it... loved it...) I didn't know what to expect. Having come across the account in my reading anyway I figured I would give it a chance. I was expecting a gore-fest between the action scenes portrayed in the commercials. I found something else entirely: The characters play on the screen, and they are charming. The fellow from the crow tv show/movies (?) was a big suprise. His portrayal as a martial art american indian made him a favorite (suspend reality and just be absorbed by the movie). In the first few minutes we are treated to a bit of stomach-jarring cinematography, and the movie revisits this throughout--but the movie is far from a blood bath. The story itself is quite winning, with the love interests and little bits of court interplay to give it some touch of extra depth--and mostly for the lavish imagery. The mystery in the film is the creature and then the man behind it: You aren't really given clues to solve it; it just sort of happens. Enjoy the movie for it's action, for the bits of genuinely stomach upsetting moments (much like Alien or Aliens). If there was one disappointment, it came when the creature was actually revealed--the great failing of monster movies: Nothing is ever so terrible once it is revealed. It is VERY computer generated--if you catch my meaning. Watch it/buy it if you like the Alien series, Predator, and martial arts classics (Swordsman, Drunken Master, Zu, etc).
