Synopsis: The Brandon Teena Story (1998)

Synopis: A haunting documentary that tells the true life story of Teena Brandon, a Nebraska female who moved to Falls City, Nebraska, in 1993 and passed herself off as a male. When Brandon's newfound friends learned that he was, in fact, a female, their angry confusion triggered a series of brutal, horrific events that ended with the death of Teena and two other individuals. Interviews with actual players, including Brandon's girlfriend Lana Tisdel, as well as the murderers Tom and John, combined with audio tapes from Brandon's police interrogations, make this a poignant, unforgettable expose of homophobia and prejudice in small town America. Inspiration for the acclaimed 1999 feature film BOYS DON'T CRY.

1 of 1 Yahoo! Users found this Brandon Teena Story review helpful A very powerful documentary about the rape/murder of a transgendered person. It gives the inside story that led to the making of "Boys Don't Cry". It documented well Brandon Teena's pain & confusion and the prejudices of small-town, middle America that contributed to her/his undoing without glossing over Brandon's own faults. The interviews with the murderers and the law officers that initially were reluctant to prosecute them are chilling.

I've been to Falls City 4 or 5 times and the film captured the feel of the area excellently.

Overall, it is disturbing and compelling at the same time & I'd recommend it to any adult wanting to know more about this subject. ...

I thought it was a GREAT documentry on her and her life on what she had to go through...Its tough being gay/lesbian/bi/trans and etc.,but with more people seeing that its not who u sleep with,but who U love and what makes u happy. I rate this and Boys don't cry, very highly, a must see....Thanks...
