put on DVD now !!!
this is one of the funniest war pics that i've seen. the violent scenes aren't as gory as i would like them, but oh well. this is a great movie,...remember this movie.

In my generation, I was brought up to believe that "Full Metal Jacket" was THE Vietnam movie. Channel surfing one night I happened on this movie on Encore. I was not disappointed. Stan Shaw and R. Lee Ermey (yes! He played a D.I. BEFORE FMJ, and he does great) are standouts. Seems to me the film was trying to weave many things into the story: a faceless enemy, corrupt allies, spineless leaders, and an all around bum deal. And does it deliver? In my opinion, a resounding yes! I have only found this as either a laserdisc or a $50 VHS tape on the Web, so consider yourself lucky if you've found this excellent precursor to the more modern Vietnam movies. Great stuff.

Excellent movie! Very entertaining and it paints a realistic picture of the Vietnam experience. There is some Hollywood added in which prevents the movie from being depressing. The film is suitable for high school history classes that may be covering American history. I highly recommend this movie, but I would be cautious about showin this movie to children under the age of 14. This is one for the collection! *CJ*
