Pros: Well done in its scope; great casting

Cons: wasn't well received at the box office; original intent was to do sequels

This movie is well done in its scope. The casting was superb. George C. Scott as Abraham performed in a powerful manner as befitting this actor's roles when he had some creativity in performing them as his effort in Patton proves. I thought the s...creenwriting was very well done in handling complex subject matter that is of import to three major faiths. The screenwriting took some liberties with the storyline to fill in gaps and increase the level of drama...but it was all quite believable and certainly added, I think, to what the Bible would have elaborated on if not originally written in such a concise manner. I really have no criticisms of this movie. I view it as a classic, as its storytelling is still relevant now as when it was done over 40 years ago. As an adept on Bible subjects and content, I think this is an excellent primer for those showing initial interest in Bible topics. Unfortunately, I do not feel the same enthusiasm for other "Bible" movies ...save for the portrayal of the Book of Ruth...Especially any movie about Christ with the only exception of an obscure series, entitled "The Life of Christ," done in Canada over 50 years ago.
