Pros: Very interesting for fans
Cons: None
Covers the history of the group and helps dispel a lot of silly rumors in the process. Good video and sound quality for the most part considering some of the source material was not well preserved or came from amateur sources. I have re-watched this many times and always enjoy it. Highly recommended.
Pros: ALL
Cons: NONE
THE BEATLES ARE THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If You love the Beatles you'll love this
I've been listening to the Beatles since i was a boy. My brother and I would always enjoy unreleased tracks found on some bootleg album or CD somewhere. NOW, all you could ask for is right here in the anthology set. The history, the unreleased tracks, the stories. I highly recommend it to anyone that has interest in this band. And, if you can, watch it through a 5.1 surround sound system. Everyone knows the legacies that these musicians have left as solo artists, so just thinking that they created music together with all of that talent is a feat that will never be duplicated. enjoy!
I saw the first time this anthology by T.V. and I can't wait to buy this DVD treasure.
This is the best this set has ever been!
The only way you'd have seen this set in any form in near as superior sound and picture was if you were one of the 500 or so people who actually owned a Laserdisc Player in the 1990's, and spent the $120 for that box set when it was originally released seven years ago. The superior 5.1 surround sound remixes and digital picture speak for themselves, and inclusion (finally) of the Threetles "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" music videos would have been enough to merit even the replacement of the Laserdisc set in any serious fan's collection, but the new extra disc of previously unreleased footage of Paul, George and Ringo, as filmed in George's garden, their rememberances of times past and their performance of several Beatles numbers recall the magic that caused the whole hubbub surrounding the Fab Four in the first place.
Other than the extra disc, and inclusion of Real Love, I will not go into the differences between this DVD and the VHS release or the TV Special release, as that is already being worked upon by amateur Beatlesologists, and their efforts will no doubt appear on their various websites. If you've only seen this when it aired as a special on TV, you are in for a real treat! If you've seen the VHS, you'll still find suprises! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
This is a must have for any music fan. Since the Beatles have influenced just about every modern group over the last 40 years, it's fascinating to see how the group evolved and how much of their music is still being copied today. Even some of todays political views have been influenced by what is shown here. It's as much of a history lesson as it is a musical documentary. A must have for anyone between the ages of 10 to 70.
The Beatles Anthology is an outstanding chronicle of the world's greatest ever musical act. Told exclusively by those who were there [including, most importantly, all four Beatles] this collection features rare home movie footage and complete versions of seldom seen song clips. Brilliant.
This enthology has everything you could want. From early songs such as "I want to touch your jatsycab", "a hard days scotum", and "I love you Ringo" to more psychadelic songs such as "Lucy Sucking Dogs and taking hideous ammounts of LSD", "The Pope is sending me bricks of hash", "Paul's girlfiends got an awfuly big vagina" and "How to shoot yourself in the head with a strawberry" and the spooky techno trance remix of "everybody hold hands and send some happy vibes out to the people of Bangladesh". There are also some obscure previously unreleased tracks including a song written by Ringo Starr called "My dad the dustman" and a rare out take of "Yellow Amphibious Fruitcake" in which John Lennon is heard screaming out "eggs and chips" over and over again. The remastered song released after Lennons death "Birds
