    Pros: Excellent selections, rare footage of great artists both performing and discussing technique and pedagogy

    Cons: One could only hope for more of this footage, and the inclusion of additional pianists.

    This is a wonderful and fascinating collection of sonic and visual windows into the minds and art of some of the last centuries greatest pianists. Commentaries by a wide range of contemporary musicians, some of whom are prior students, provide remark...able insights into the legendary Russian and European schools regarding studying, teaching and playing the great piano repertoire. This DVD belongs in the collection of every serious devotee of the piano. Highly recommended. Read more Less
