Pros: very original
Cons: none
I loved it, it made me laugh so hard I cried.
Pros: So cool
Cons: so funny
Phim nay xem buon cuoi dau ca bung
Pros: Adult oriented humour which means no kids making noises in the background.
Cons: Not enough nudity.
This movie has defined comedy, for me the cast couldn't be more perfect, the storyline is comedically original, and the overal direction has you cheering with laughter 'til the obligatory obvious but well deserved ending. A must see for those with a great sense of humour.
Pros: very funny,delightful
Cons: nothing
Let me first get a couple of things out of the way. The 40-Year-Old Virgin is a really good movie, because it has plenty of good humor and acting all mixed with a bittersweet story about the true meaning of love. Steve Carell is the perfect choice to play Andy, the 40-year-old guy who has never had sex. Catherine Keener as Trish is wonderful as the main love interest for Andy. And everyone else is great, too. I also like the various jokes involving frustration with condoms, signs of homosexuality, ripping off chest hair, and weird things to do with the multiple television sets at the electronic store where Andy works. The movie did make me laugh. OK, I'm done. Now onto what I really want to talk about.
Pros: none
Cons: everything
I have watched this film over and over and everytime it is as funny as the first. I am certain there are friends who actually do this to each other. The reality, when you stop looking for love, it finds you in the strangest places and with someone you never knew or were remotely acquainted with, and journey to this ending can and is hilarious. KUDOS
Pros: hilarious throughout
Cons: a bit long, especially the unrated one
This is one of those movies that focuses on real life situations and gives you real life characters. It is refreshing not to see an actual villain, unlike in the Wedding Crashers, which really killed the movie.
This is a believable story about those guys, like me, who are very shy towards women and always seems to act foolish around them. Steve Carell stars as Andy, a regular guy who keeps to himself, but enjoys his loneliness. It is when his coworkers out of the blue invites him to a poker game that his life begins to change. The guys, everyone has friends like these, find out about his lack of sexual encounters and feels they have to help Andy. Each guy has their own advice about approaching women and we see the hilarious results of their advice. Andy does finally meet someone who he truly cares about played by Catherine Kenner and the fun really begins.
This is truly a very funny film. The laughs keep coming and never let up unlike in the Wedding Crashers, where the best parts was the beginning. 40 Year Old Virgin is in the vein of "There's Something About Mary." I was also surprised how touching the movie turned out to be. Really felt true to life for this guy. Believe me I went through some experiences Andy went through, and I'm sure there are many who have been in Andy's shoes.
Highly recommend this must see non-stop comedy.

Pros: very funny!
Cons: that icky part when he got hit by the truck
I love this movie. I love movies that make you laugh out loud, and this doed just that. But, if you love this, you HAVE TO SEE Grandma's Boy! I like it bettter than 40 year old virgin. ITS EVEN FUNNIER!! I promise!
Pros: it's funny
Cons: It could be longer
This is one of my favorite movies.
Pros: Absolutely Hilarious
Cons: Nothing
I laughed the whole way through this movie! Perfect Comedy
Pros: Everything, esp. "hurtin' for a squirtin' "
Cons: Nothing
This is the dawning of the age of the Aquarius!
Pros: Laugh untill it hurts kind of a movie.
Cons: It was a bit raunchy at times.
The basic concept of this movie is there is a poor man who is still a virgin at 40 (as the title sugests) and all his coworkers find out. Everyone feels sorry for him and so they try to help him solve the problem. What follows is a parade of bad dates and all out disasters. It is somewhat low class humor, but it somehow manages to keep at least enough dignity to remain a fun movie.
Pros: Great deadpan acting style on Steve Carell
Cons: Lots of nudity that didn't enhance the film, for me, anyway...
I watched this DVD as a rental, at home, with my own three kids and their three cousins running around in the background. Big mistake. For several reasons, which I shall list here:
1) the title alone suggests it is an adult movie, as well as the rating.
2) We're talking a surprising amount of gratuitous mudity, maybe even on the same level as "Porky's 2."
3) a lot of the dialogue is spoken kind of low and there are a lot of subtle bits of dialogue that I missed from my kids screaming over it. I'm going to buy this movie and watch it again after dark when the little dumplings have gone to bed, so I can really enjoy it.
The plot is self-explanatory. The main character is a 40-year-old courtesy clerk in an electronics store. His social life and career are pretty much at a loose end, he's very conservative, and the highlight of his life is collecting vintage action figures. Trying to help him out what they feel is his slump are his three coworkers, all sexually experienced but otherwise horrible judges of what constitutes a "normal" relationship with a woman. And naturally, their purpose throughout the movie is to help the poor guy lose his virginity.
This movie is FULL of awkward moments that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy (such as watching Steve Carell's character trying to pee with an erection, or the infamous chest-waxing scene shown on the commercials; I will never feel the same way upon hearing the phrases "speed dating," "man-o-lantern,"
; or the song "Age of Aquarius" again after seeing this movie. It's corrupted me. Shoot, I'll even feel embarrassed the next time I see an Aquaman action figure after this!
Our hero in this film runs across a woman who, like him, works at a store "with nothing in it" (literally named "We Sell Your Stuff on eBay") across the street from his. She's likable, low-key and shy like him, perfect for him. You know immediately that he won't come to his senses and try to pursue a relationship with her until he's made a fool of himself with all of the other silly prospects his friends throw at him.
There aren't any real big name celebrities in the cast. This movie made Steve Carell famous, obviously, but other than that, the only other person that I recognized as having been in anything else was Paul Rudd, who played Josh in "Clueless."
A few caveats:
There is lots of bad language in this film. There is quite a bit of nudity. There are several racial slurs and stereotypes depicted. There is frank talk about porn and extravagant sexual habits.
But overall I still laughed. Sometimes with chagrin that I could find those parts funny, but no less than I did at watching "White Chicks" or "Scary Movie Three." Or "Big Momma's House." Yeah, we're talking humor that tacky, but much more insightful. Rent at your own risk!
Pros: If you like Old School and Wedding Crashers you will love this!
Cons: None that I can think of.
This is one of the most hilarious movies I've seen in awhile and highly recommend it. This Steve Carell's (The Daily Show, Anchorman, The Office) stab at being the lead actor in a film and they could casted a better guy for this lonely and VERY depraved character. Just for the chest hair scene alone makes this a movie worth purchasing rather than a one night rental because you will catch yourself watching it over and over.
Pros: n/a
Cons: n/a
The ONLY funny parts in the movie, to me, is what I saw on the previews on TV. There was literally no REAL storyline, just a nerd running around trying to find a woman to go to bed with....that's WAY tired!!
Pros: It had Pros?
Cons: every thing
I also watched the unrated and wished I hadn't. I might have liked the movie if I could have got passed the every other word being the "F" word. The worst part is it didn't need to be there... I don't mind it being in a movie if it is making the role funnier at the time but to use it just to be using it... well NO. I wouldn't tell anyone to watch this movie.
Pros: Great story, great actors/actresses
Cons: Not much too mention
This is a great movie! Very funny, I happened to see the Unrated version, so there was alot of stuff I saw that folks in the theatre didn't see. Overall, no doubt, add this one to your collection!!!
Pros: good story and sound track
Cons: really none that I can think of
I picked up a couple of comedies at the video rental one of which was "40" year old virgin. I did not hold much hope for this film but my wife wanted to see it. I was very pleasantly surprised. From the title I thought it would be a lame teen flick like American Pie, instead it was a pretty nice story about relationships. The main character's well meaning co-workers try to help him end his virginity but instead learn valuable lessons about long term relationships. There were also a few great songs on the soundtrack that I have not heard in a long while. I still would not suggest this one for the kids, but it is definatly worth the $5 for the rental, or possibly even a permanent addition to your collection if you love comdies as much as my wife does.
Pros: Funny, absurd, intellegent, and rises most above regular comedies to communicate a few real things to the audience.
Cons: Maybe If you can call it a con.. if you are feeling emotionally soft than the truth in this film can hurt so good.
The lead character redeems him self in the end with his dignity, so it all good. I'm not gonna offer any spoilers here to anyone that hasn't gotten around to see this yet. I will say.. it has fairly mature material in general to hear, see and think about.
