Pro Reviews: That Was Only Yesterday

Gary Wright was one of the lead singers and main songwriters of Spooky Tooth; hence, when the powers that be at the record company decide to make up a best-of from a group that never really had any hit singles, this is what they come up with. Culling material from the best Spooky Tooth and adding it to the best of Gary Wright's solo material, you get quite an enjoyable anthology. The best cuts are ably represented, but the standout cut is one billed to Gary Wright's Wonderwheel and released only as a single, entitled "I Know." It was, perhaps a blueprint of things to come, for Wonderwheel's guitarist was Mick Jones, who took that blueprint and based his new band, Foreigner, on it.
