    Pros: awesome live tracks

    Cons: i wish the singer grunted

    every song on this album is progressive and brutal. awesome guitarist and unbelievable talent all around. on the last three tracks, the singer sounds like he's coked out. just raw aggression. while the singer doesn't grunt, i still like his v...ocals. Read more Less

    There's a kick ass live version of All Life Ends which is a standout track on this album. It doesn't sound like a live recording at all it's more like a studio recording. The Swarm, Terminal Spirit Disease and a few others are cool also.... Not quite as thrashy as Slaughter of the Soul but sounds much darker. Read more Less

    This is the incarnation on Cd of what Scandinavian melodic Death Metal is. At the gates is one of the pioneers of this (once) underground scene, the style is mixing the brutality of Slayer with the melody of Iron Maiden and the lyrics and folklore o...f Scandinavia. Another album I would recommend is Slaughter of the soul. Similar bands: Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Amorphis, Darkane. Read more Less

    At the gates is always mentioned. Why?
    because they are a definition of the genre.
