If you truly want to see a Tenchi in it's true form this is the DVD set you need to get! Toonami butchered the show, for good reasons i might add. Tenchi is not for kids!! this is a show that adults will find humerous at points but the stories at times drag on. only bad thing about it is there are no scene access. In other words you have to watch the whole episode to get to a particular scene ( Intro-Credits)

The box set consists of two separate DVD's, each containing a separate story arc. The first DVD was worth the purchase price of the box set itself. The second DVD's story was not quite as engaging, but still entertaining. The third DVD was just bells and whistles, no more episodes. The animation is uneven, with over half of the content made up of gripping anime' of the highest quality, and the rest being somewhat run-of-the-mill quality...not bad, mind you, but just not a much higher grade than you can see on TV any afternoon. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, although I would have preferred a 3rd CD full of episodes rather than a bunch of stuff I'll probably look at once and never again.

By far and wide this is the best of all the Tenchi Muyo series. The concept is interesting, the animation is great and with a very nice variety of themes ranging from the mundane (everybody taking care of a baby, for example), to pure Sci-Fi.

Best of all, it's UNCENSORED! All the girls--except Sasami--appear nude at some point or another, and the subtitles for the Japanese translation reveal the English dub actually censored some pretty bold sex jokes (such as Washuu trying to get a sperm sample from Tenchi wearing a nurse's outfit.)

Don't get me wrong, though. The series is NOT about sex. It gets really spiced up with the sex humor, but its main focus is not at all sex. So don't worry; this is not porn anime. It's just anime with an attitude.

The only criticism I have to this DVD box set is it lacks one episode known as the "Mihoshi Special," in which Kiyone, who would have a major role in the Tenchi Universe series, would appear for the first time. This is really a shame since the box set includes two discs with all of the OVA episodes and a third one known as the "Tenchi Encyclopedia." They could've used the third disk for the Mihoshi special and make it a truly complete "ultimate" box set.

All in all it's worth buying. Even the packaging is great (the design is really beautiful.) If you're a fan of the Tenchi series this definitely a must.

The japanese uncensored version of Tenchi OVA is some of the best anime I've ever seen.

A must have

This Tenchi Muyo dvd is da bomb, it's a must have for all Tenchi fans!! The picture is clear and the sound is in dolby surround sound, so u know it's gonna be good. This dvd set includs 3 dvds, the episodes are in the first 2 and the 3rd have a lot of tenchi muyo info. The cost might be a little high but it's worth it, even if u already seen it on tv!!

An Anime Classic

The Tenchi Boxed set contains the first 13 Tenchi Muyo OAVs and it is excellent! The series is about a young martial artist named Tenchi who gets mixed up with alien females and the supernatural. The animation (at least for the 1st seven episodes) is excellent, and the upgraded DVD sound is fabulous. It may be expensive to buy, but it is worth every penny.
