A decent RB and Urban Contemporary vocalist, Tata Vega moved to Los Angeles from her Long Island hometown in the '70s and signed with Motown in 1976. She issued three LPs for the label in the late '70s, all creditably produced but none earning even a moderate hit. Vega did background work with Carl Anderson and Lou Rawls, then switched to gospel in the '80s. She did the lead vocals on an Andre Crouch single, "Oh, It Is Jesus," in 1987. After years as a session vocalist, Vega returned to the spotlight in 1998 with Now I See.
