well done feature with all the right parts
Pros: solid writing, acting, directing
Cons: some of the secondary characters needed some work
I feel this film rates about a 7.5 on a scale of 10.
I know film, particularly those in this genre. One thing that has to be considered is the amount of money that is generally spent on lower budgeted action features compared directly to the amount of production value that they got out of this motion picture. Had Target of Opportunity been shot anywhere in the United States it would have cost them a minimum of 15 million dollars and that's not paying some "stars" to play the lead roles. Danny Lerner is a good producer and in the 3 films that I have seen of his as a director he has gotten significantly better in his craft with each one. Les Weldon is also a talented writer who knows this genre well and made for a compelling storyline. I have seen Todd Jensen over the years in various action-type films and this is certainly his best work. He brought something to the character and avoided the obvious traps that exist for his role. Pros: The stars are terrific
Cons: There are no behind the scenes or bloopers on the DVD, that really stinks
I saw Dean Cochran in a movie called Air Marshal and that's why I wanted to see this movie and this one is really good. The other actor Todd Jensen is also very talented. They are a good team, they are both funny and tough at the same time. Not to mention easy on the eyes ;o)
This movie was much better directed than some of the other action movies I have been forced to watch and it actually had a coherent story. I don't know how all these movies can get away with not having a story and instead just blow things up - this is not one of those kind. It's sort of like The Borne Identity mixed with a prison breakout movie.
The main guy Jim played by Dean Cochran recues his buddy against CIA orders from some middle eastern prison (or maybe it's Bosnia or some place like that) and the other guy Nick (Todd Jensen) has lost his memory so the two guys have to team up together and figure out what the mission is and at the same time they are on the run from the bad guys. The Actors are so good, so talented! The producers and director really knew what they were doing with this film. The writer is unbelievably talented. This film really moves, it's fast paced and filled with surprises!

I have watched a lot of action movies and the fact is in all the movies I've seen over the years nobody can act. In this movie they actually cared enough about what turns out to be a halfway decent story to hire 2 guys who can act. Not only that but this movie isn't your normal stock footage fare, you can tell that they actually filmed the action sequences and used the real actors. Sure the movie like any has its pitfalls but overall this was a lot of fun.
