A Good Album that has Been Lost

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 10, 2006

    Pros: Vocal Talent

    Cons: Marketing

Here is an artist that will make it but with advertisement in the future. This gem of an album is fantastic. Bachman's songs are clear and concise "You're My Everything", "(You Love) Like Nobody Loves Me" and of course, &q...uot;She's So High" which was overplayed. Give it a listen and hear this Canadian artist's TALENT. I'm sure you can pick this one up in the buck-bin. Read more Less

    Intelligent Good Stuff

I really wanted this CD because I loves She's So High. Tal Bachman has a really soothing voice, and he can do some amazing things with it. A lot of his songs are very touching and romantic but he has a lot of songs that have the "another-bites-the-...dust" moral, which is real life, I guess. I really like Darker Side of Blue, Romanticid and Strong Enough. I enjoy a lot of music, from Alanis to Cake to matchbox twenty, and this is worth a shot. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Tal Bachman

Living up to the legend of Randy Bachman might not be as overwhelming as living up to the legacy of John Lennon, but Tal Bachman does something neither Julian nor Sean Lennon did he made a debut album that has nothing to do whatsoever with his father's music. Tal Bachman's eponymous debut is a classic pop/rock album, in the vein of '70s pop singer/songwriters that spent as much time crafting the sound of their records as they did the songs. Since the record is a product of the late '90s, it does have a bit of the selfconscious pastiche that characterizes postalternative pop, but Tal Bachman is more sincere than his peers. Occasionally, he is a bit too sincere, suffering a bit from schmaltzy lyrics and music, but when he delivers, he delivers mainstream pop that is unabashedly designed for radio play. If the album suffers from overproduction in the hands of Bob Rock, so be it the best moments prove that Tal Bachman has the potential to develop a career as a fine mainstream pop/rock hi...tmaker. - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide Read more Less

Tal Bachman

As the son of Guess Who/BTO guitarist Randy Bachman, Canadian-born pop singer/songwriter Tal Bachman was raised in a musical environment, absorbing the breadth of his father's enormous record collection and teaching himself to play guitar. As a teen he increasingly lost interest in music, however, and instead went on to study political philosophy at a small university i... Read more
