Named after a Roy Lichtenstein painting and drawing inspiration from New York bands of the '60s and '70s, Takka Takka formed in 1999. The band, consisting of Gabe Levine, J.P. Jones, Conrad Doucette, and Damion Jurrens, released its first album, We Feel Safer at Night, in 2006. They went on tour with Architecture in Helsinki and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah later that year.
