    Outstanding PDA Unit

By Me  May 1, 2006 | 25 out of 29 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

    Pros: It has everything!

Cons: A little Bulky and Hard To Drive and Dial!

All in all TMOBILE has a winner with this phone a must for any tech savy geek who needs the net 24/7 or use the Wifi to access any Windows 2000/2003/XP terminal server. It has pocket office which syncs up fairly well with ActiveSync software provided... with the phone. The only negative thing I can say is that the dialing keypad can be a challenge if you are driving and need to make a call. Out of the box with Windows mobile 5.0, Outlook2002 and all cabling needed! TMOBILE MDA gets a 5 out of 5 starts in my book. Read more Less

    The all-in-one smartphone

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 17, 2006 | 5 out of 6 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

Pros: great functionality, easy to operate, cool sliding keyboard

Cons: needs a better camera and more memory

I purchased the T-Mobile MDA and I just have to say it is GREAT. The phone contains Windows Mobile so it also works as a PDA so it can be used as a navigation system, music player, personal planner, and much much more. The screen resolution is sharp... and crisp and the touch screen is easy to maneuver with the stylus or just with your fingers. Connectivity with Bluetooth earpieces is effortless. A feature the phone has that is very good even though I don't use it, is the customizable button configuration. The retractable keyboard is also very nice and gives the phone a cool feel aswell. The keyboard has decent lighting and nicely spaced characters, this makes texting and IMing a breeze. The down side to this phone is its minimal memory of 47.46MB, which is really pathetic but that is what mini SD cards are for so it isn't so bad. Another thing is the 1.3 megapixel camera. The quality isn't very good but this is a PDA phone not a camera if you are looking for pictures with awesome quality then get a 5 megapixel camera if you don't care (with this phone you really shouldn't) then you are just fine. In conclusion this phone really does raise the bar for the American Market of Smartphones, it gives Americans a look into real function filled devices instead of those wretched Sidekicks and Blackberrys. When a PDA and a phone collide they want to be MDA

    By Z  Jan 20, 2007 | 4 out of 4 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

Pros: PDA side has everything, Phone is exactly what you want.

Cons: After dropping it a billion times, slider doesn't work as well.

I've dropped this phone on concrete so much, and it still works perfectly. I have many friends with phones like this but they can't compare them. Its a great phone. My biggest complaint is that the phone dial screen is plain and borin...g. Another complaint is I can't get the screen any lower, not for battery use just because its so bright. The battery is amazing. Lasts me about 3-4 days and I send and receive about 200 to 300 text messages and are on the phone for about 100 minutes a day at least using my blue tooth headset. But just what I expected in this phone. Amazing. Couldn't have done better. Read more Less

    has it all

By John  May 8, 2006 | 4 out of 4 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

Pros: acts as a modem has all the windows features

Cons: the phone dialing can be difficult

This is a great device. It has everything from the camera to the high speed internet. I find the modem component to be a great feature. Though the phone dialing is taking some getting used to it is not as bad as people made it out to be. The camera i...s very clear and the screen for pictures and video is very clear. This is one very necessary device for any person on the go. This device is something that i would highly recomend to anyone. I will never go back to just a cell phone again! Read more Less

    Great PDA, OK Phone

By Brian  Jun 7, 2006 | 4 out of 5 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

    Pros: Top-notch mulitasker

Cons: Too much stylus action for heavy phone use

I've been using this phone as my primary phone for the past few months. It's an awesome smart phone. Some things I've done with it - -synced my office Outlook and Yahoo email -surfed the internet with IE mobile via high speed wi-fi at... a t-mobile hotspot -moved all my contacts onto my phone with pics and full address info, im names, and much more. -played .mp3s from a 2gb storage card via Windows Media player In other words, this is a full-fledged pocket PC that also makes phone calls. That's perfect for me but if you're just looking for a cool phone/text messager you might consider the cheaper Sidekick. Also, being a Windows device, there were inevitably some frustrating moments, like... -to put any programs on the phone, you have to first download to your PC and use active sync. Lame. -the video playback of even the tiniest clips on this phone is often jerky. So much for pocket porn. -the camera sucks big time. Worthless except for the smallest resolutions. Read more Less

    Pros: All the features

    Cons: A tad bulky

I loved my phone! I can take it with me and use it as a palm at work & it was a great phone. The hidden slide keyboard was nice.. I recently upgrated to the T-mobile Wing, which is the updated version of this phone and am loving it even more! ...Just trying to find more medical programs that work for the microsoft OS. Great way to consilidate!!

    By jaqbqwk2004  Oct 14, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

    Pros: Does just about anything!

Cons: Needs a little more 'program' memory, skeptical about the durability

I have always been a satisfied PPC user... I decided to get the device as I was tired of carrying my ipod, personal cell, PPC, and company cell in my purse (I travel ALOT). Now, the only thing I carry is my MDA, and company cell.. This little devic...e does just about anything. You can purchase 2 gig mini SD cards for about $40, and store MANY different programs, music, etc... Only drawback is program memory. Not a lot of it, just need to ensure that you really CLOSE all of your programs when done. I would say that was my only disappointment, as the device does not come with a program 'closer' like iTask (HP devices). Not a huge deal though. The other bummer is that my GPS is not compatable with my device... again, not a huge deal, I can figure something out. Best part was the price, after rebates, I will have only paid 50 bucks for it! If you decide to buy, search for online vendors, you may get a much better discount than if you go to Tmobile. Highly recommend this device! Read more Less

    My Toy...

    By RavenLenore13  May 5, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this T-Mobile MDA Vario review helpful

Pros: This does everything I need it to do.

    Cons: A bit Bulky & Co$tly

Thinking that Blackberry may get shut off, I started shopping around. After shopping around for 4 weeks, this popped up on Gizmodo. ....... It does everything I could do on my Blackberry & more! It's wonderful to have a real Internet Explor...er as well as Windows Mobile ( which you can buy compatible software), Games, MP3s, MemoryCards, 3.1 Camera, etc. Though, I don't think I shall ~ever~ need to do a spreadsheet while on the road. ...... The Downside: It is a bit bulky, but no worse than my Blackberry was. The Cost was Rather High, but not as bad as some of it's competition! Besides, that's what tax refunds are for. ;) The included horizontal case is mediocre. Sena sells a ~nicer~ vertical case. Sure it looks like a gimp mask with a flap, but much you don't have to remove it to use the device unless you need to use the key pad. ........ Service: T-Mobile also has a good plan for data-only & a by the minute charge for the phone if you have no need for a phone plan. (I sit next to land lines all day!) The other guys make you buy a phone plan to even USE the phone. T-Mobile has been good to me... Signal will vary by area. Sound on phone is good. (those whole 10 minutes a month I use it ;P) ........... Bettery does drain faster, but you can plug into your computer to charge it! Great fun for this E-Mail junkie! Read more Less

    Pros: looks good

Cons: unreliable, loses signal and dies

instructed by a technician to take your product into t-mobile's self service center. is there hope at last. NOT!! a rep. her name was Sana, a very pleasant. but, hey she exhausted all avenues as best as she could; she understood and concluded our... only recourse was call in and request another phone. only to be told that it was the sim card not true we inserted the sim card into one of our many t-mobile phones purchased since weve been a customer of yours and that phone worked fine.....we pay insurance and have other services plus added an additional phone line and pay our bill and warranty; which seems like a outright scam.... konstanza@earthlink.net Read more Less
