    Pros: SKYPE!!!

    Cons: No Word editing

    I have had it for over a month, long enough to get over the idiosyncrasies we all get used to on other devices. Bottom line it’s a mobile phone that allows you to go Wi-Fi on a Windows Mobile OS. I have added a 1 GB memory card; use it as docume...nt storage, music, video etc. I get all my company email and can open the attachments, word, excel, PP, pdf, etc. even shoot video. The camera is very good for a phone device if you ask me. I can’t edit the attachments but I wouldn’t want to on a tiny keyboard anyway. The absolute best part of this phone is being able to load Skype and call all my international contacts using Skype. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than T-mobile that’s for sure. Think of it as a mobile Skype phone, granted the connection is not as good as my DSL, but fine once you go Wi-Fi. I pull into any coffee joint/bookstore, hookup with Wi-Fi plug in the headphones and talk all day long, surf the web etc. not to mention all the other stuff (see the DASH spec sheet.) Now I too can go into a Starbucks and check my mail like all the other nerds with their laptops, I just do it more discreetly. It's the whole package, when you download your favorite music to it. Oh and did I mention that the sync software is pretty automatic, just plug in with the USB cable, and sync away with your Outlook. When you hook up with the USB cable it also charges the phone. So if you have your, or a friends laptop nearby you can top off the battery. Oh by the way my brother has the new "blueberry" Pearl, it's cool too but I have Skype! As far as the easily breaking screen that others have mentioned I haven't had that problem. It maybe because I use the belt case for it. There is reason why laptop manufacturer’s screens close inside. You gotta cover/protect the screen; this is not a manufacturer’s defect only a user’s defect if you ask me. I definitely recommend it.     Pros: style and features

    Cons: QUALITY -- kept breaking!!!

    My two friends and I purchased this phone 2 weeks ago and immediately fell in love with the style and features of the phone. But as the days went by, all three of us quickly grew a disgust for the Dash after discovering problem after problem... afte...r problem. The biggest problem with the phone was definitely related to the phone's quality. All three of us experienced malfunctioning keyboards and LCD screens with the first two days of use. The screen would go blank and only after taking out the battery and putting it back in would the phone start functioning again. Also, syncing the phone to desktop applications proved impossible. The phone's reception was also a major issue -- I found myself getting "no service" in areas where my previous phone (Blackberry) had at least 3 bars. My other two friends ended up returing the phone after 2 days. I exchanged mine for another Dash after 3 days foolishly hoping that I wouldn't have the same issues. I was a fool... sames issues...all over again. I finally gave up and returned the phone twice and for all. Read more Less

    Pros: long battery life

    Cons: to many to list

    i have owned this phone for 9 days and i am taking it back today! i consider myself to be pretty tech savy and have owned multiple smart phones (just upgraded from a treo 650) i couldnt wait for this phone to come out all the reviews said it would be... the best smart phone ever, what a heart break!!! the phone is not user friendly. the buttons are too exposed so every time you pull it out of the case you answer the call before you see who it is. the web browser doesnt even support web sites like yahoo! and the download speads are horrible my treo 650 had better download speads and the browser is a pain to use unless its a preset web page by t-mobile. the reception is very lacking i live in a slightly rual area and usually dont have a problem but the dash has alot of dead spots in my community. the ms office features do not support office 2003! i have had the phone for 9 days and had to pull the battery out at least 10 times because of lockup. you cant adjust the key lock settings and the volume strip on the side is a ROYAL PAIN!!!! i was so looking forward to this new HTC tech hitting america but either tmobile really jacked it up or the phone just sucks it has been a real heartbreak. this will be the last time i trust the tech mags, i guess thier top reviews go to the highest bidders!     Pros: Lightweight

    Cons: Weak case fragile screen

    Had phone for 3 days before the LCD screen broke with no obvious trauma, not a scratch on it, had it in my pocket. Phone has a 1 year warr. LCD screen not included. Wonder why?     The T-mobile Dash is great phone/PDA, but ONLY if you take the time to customize it. With a few hours of customizing the Dash phone, you have potential to: play video games, watch TV, save DVD movies, view google maps, use GPS navigation (with ext...ernal bluetooth device), stream music from sirus, direct push e-mail, talk on skype, go online with built in wifi, connect to FTP servers, terminal access, write HTML, view PDFs, read the news, check the weather, play MP3s... and the list goes on. There is just SO MUCH this phone is capable of... but only if you make the effort to load third-party programs. People using this phone right out of the box might not be very pleased, because there are TONS of third party programs that make this phone phenominal. Think about buying a computer with practically nothing on it... it would be a pretty boring computer. This phone is the same way. Most people are use to buying phones and enjoying them straight out of the box, but to truly take advantage of this phone you MUST take the time to load third-party software, find hacks/bug fixes, etc. Blackberry might have an edge over this phone in terms of ease of use, because it's one of those "right out of the box" types... however, the T-Mobile Dash has so much more potential, and can be an incredibly powerful device. First things that one should change are: lookng up the hacks/registry settings to use the volume strip as a scrollbar, increase the speed, change the homescreen, and modify the button assignments.     Pros: Next best thing to my laptop: wifi, gprs/edge, bluetooth, easy to use keyboard

    Cons: Daily lockups that require a reboot (aka remove the battery)

    Being a hard-core fan of Samsung, T-Mobile/HTC had to work pretty hard to get me to switch. Since Samsung didn't release the Blackjack to T-Mobile, I decided to give the Dash a shot. Being privy to playing with the iPaqs, Blackberrys and the Blac...kjack - the Dash wins hands down. For being a person with fat fingers, the keyboard was the easiest to use amongst the group. I was able to type messages with ease within minutes of purchasing. Having Wi-Fi that connects to even WPA2-encrypted access points is definitely a plus (I work in a very secure area tht uses WPA2). Being able to browse real webpages and not wap-ported pages is great but with the small screen - text and resolution is limited. But no complaints there, scrolling functions and the ability to expand frames are great features. Bluetooth works great out of the box with all major headset manufacturers, tested thoroughly myself. I don't use the camera much but worked fine when I needed to take pictures of my recent auto accident. Speakerphone works great without any crackling like others. The ability to customize ringtones and sounds within WM5.0 is great. Tested with a SanDisk 2.0GB T-Flash card and works great! Ability to have a phone, wifi & gprs/edge access and play audio and video - just like a laptop. I use my phone to check corporate mail thru IMAP Proxy and works great, thru Wi-fi and Gprs/Edge. The skin of the phone is great, I don't have to worry about smudges or anything. BTW - don't try it yourself but I accidently left it on my dash in the truck with the windows down during a turn, still have my phone! Score for T-Mobile/HTC! If they get rid of the twitchy volume strip, ability to adjust volume of callers (or make outdoor the default profile) and constant lockups (maybe fault of MS or T-Mobile with their firmware version). Battery life is of no importance for me since I charge up at work thru mini-usb cable, car charger in the vehicle and home charger when at home office. Thumbs up: - build quality - wifi (wpa2 capable) - gprs/edge, bluetooth - full IE browsing - easy-to-use qwerty keyboard Thumbs down: - locks up daily! - having to remove the cover to insert/remove memory card - twitchy volume strip - default profile is to low I have heard that getting it reprogrammed to HTC S620 (the original manfacturer fixes the lockup issue). That's my two cents. I would rate it higher if it wasn't for the constant lockups, which require removing the battery at times. Several of my friends have had their firmwares updated and even recent units shipping now lockup more often. So I'm sitting still with my old firmware version until HTC comes out with a better model. When I first bought it, it came with 64MB @ $149.99. Decent value for me. Solved that issue with a 2.0GB T-Flash card for $25. Must haves: screen protector, phone skin (if you drop it often like me) and a car charger. Read more Less

    Pros: WiFi, WORD, EXCEL, Voice Recog, some much more!

    Cons: Volume strip and WORD & EXCEL new doc but easy fixes

    Initially I had purchased the 'WING' thinking that it would be a great device but I returned it within 24 hours as the OS is very slow/pokey... not happy. I decided to try the DASH. Had trouble with the WM5 OS like freezing (it has pr...obs)so I upgraded to WM6 and the upgrade went prefectly smooth. It's nice to have WORD and EXCEL for my job and I just added a blank doc of each program in the MY DOCS folder so now I can create both WORD and EXCEL on my DASH. That is so great!! OH, and Not one "freeze up" since my WM6 upgrade! I ran out and bought a 2gb micro SD card and started to add MP3's to it...so awesome. Setting up the email, wifi, etc. is super easy and my EDGE coverage is pretty darn fast, where I live. I wasn't real happy with the browser so I downloaded the OPERA mini browser and it rocks! Try it if you haven't yet. WiFi is really fast and I cruise the internet constantly. Battery life is fabulous...I go for a day and a half after surfing the web, playing music, texting, talking. I have small fingers so the keyboard is easy to type on. The volume strip works much better on the WM6 OS and I had disabled it on WM5 but turned it back on after my upgrade. I read about a few hacks online and plugged some in like one for making the voice recognition work on my bluetooth; reminder tweak; annoying text msg "sent" warning. I downloaded a bunch of flickr pictures, cropped them small and use them as homescreen backgrounds. Also, I downloaded AUDACITY and clipped a bunch of my favorite MP3 songs and applied them as ringers! That is one of the best things about this phone, to not have to pay $2.50 per ringer! I'm pretty tech savvy so that does helps in tweaking this phone but just googling 'hacks' for the DASH, there are so many smart, techy people out there that post step-by-step instructions that it's pretty easy for anyone to do anything. Anyway, I love my DASH and I'm not getting an iphone...looks like it might be fun at first but there are too many restrictions with that phone. You can't add or tweak anything.     I rarely take the time to voice my opinions in these forums, but I had to on this -- I love this phone. After using a Treo that was a tank, had to be repaced twice, and constantly froze, this was a godsend. I can't believe it hasn't gotten ...more press -- the Samsung Blackjack and Motorola Q can't touch it. It's sleek (much sexier than it appears in pictures), the rubber-like casing feels great in your hand, the LCD is beautiful, and it functions well. It's not without it's problems, but they are minor - small keys, volume strip is touchy, OS occasionally locks. Overall it has been awesome. By far the best cell phone I have ever owned.     Pros: screen clarity, size and look,price

    I consider myself fairly "up to date" with the cell phones I purchase. I have upgraded my phone each of the past few years and could not wait to get my 1st PDA. I was upgraded from the Sidekick II, which was a GREAT phone, however i...t was basically only for entertainment and communications purposes. I really wanted to MDA, however when I went into the TMobile store to get it, the sales guy told me that they had just dropped the price of the Dash and it was pretty much an upgrade from the MDA, at a much better price. Not true, I know several MDA users who have no complaints, I HATE the Dash. I would say that I lose about 1 out of every 10-12 calls for no reason, they just get dropped, regardelss of signal strength. I've had to call T Mobile twice since I bought this phone when I had a full signal, but no one could hear me talk, nor could I hear them- just static. The volume strip is THE WORSE. Regardelss of what setting I put it on, unless I'm using my Bluetooth, the volume drops all the way down. I have to use the speaker on every call. You may ask why I still have this phone- well in a rush I had to put it in my pocket for about 5minutes. When I took it out- the screen was broken. I wound up having to pay $110 dollars for the insurance deductible to get a new one, and in waiting for the new one to come, I missed the return by date. Oh- let me not forget the memory. Although this phone comes with WMP- I put FIVE songs on the Dash- and the phone completely shut down- out of memory to the point that I couldn't even make a call. I HAD to buy a micro SD card. In closing- I had a friend offer to trade me his old Sidekick II for my Dash- and I think I'm going to do it! Read more Less
