Pros: none

Cons: slow, never worrked, etc.

I had a free trial of this on my computer for 3 months. In the short time I kept it, it did nothing to prevent or get rid of virus and spyware. I ran the full system scan and it found nothing. I went to Trend Micro's website and ran their free software and found 60 spyware programs on my computer when Norton found nothing. I will not buy this product.

Pros: Great support 24/7

Cons: Liveupdate had some issues initially

The support for this product is great. Usual wait time was less than 10 mins and always courteous. I will buy Symantec product again.

Pros: industry leader, ease-of-use, automated on-line support, supurb documentation

Cons: somewhat resource intensive

As an IT professional, I have tested and reviewed several leading security applications over several years now. In each case, Symantec's Norton Internet Security [NIS] comes out the winner in securing personal computer systems from the latest, most complex, threats. The interface is nicely laid out and easy-to-use, which makes for an enjoyable and interesting learning experience. The product is also priced fairly compared to rival suites, which is nice as we don’t want to break the bank for securing our systems against malcontent computer crackers.

I am happy to recommend NIS to my family and friends and to anyone who asks. The only item of concern is that NIS will utilize a significant share of system resources, so I advise that users pay close attention to the system requirements and if possible make sure you have more system memory [RAM] than recommended. This will alleviate some of the load placed on the system. However I would not complain about the resource usage though, as I do understand that for providing such quality security, the application does need to utilize such resources.

Overall, NIS is a state-of-the-art security suite that not only provides an intuitive interface, but also educates users as they learn the application. I believe that Symantec actually does care about the state of computer security over filling the corporate bank coffers as is evident in their quality applications and affordable pricing.

O Viet Nam, Norton la mot ten tuoi rat lon, den muc voi nhieu nguoi nghi den Security la ho nghi den Norton. Tuy nhien tren thuc te, tu vai nam tro lai day, Norton dang ngay cang di xuong.
Cac chuong trinh cua Symantec noi chung va Norton Internet Security noi rieng deu co chung nhuoc diem la chiem dung RAM rat nhieu. Noi chung neu may ban chi co RAM = 512 thi no se la mot hung than voi may cua ban vi luon chiem khoang 60% bo nho. Hau qua la may ban hoat dong i ach di trong thay.
Viec update voi cac san pham cua Symantec cung rat kem. Khoang 2-3 ngay moi update mot lan, cac file update deu kha nang (khoang vai MB) do do toc do update cham chap. De khien cho ban buc minh.
Kha nang quet virus cung chi o muc trung binh, so voi Bit Defender va Kaspersky con thua kem xa.
Noi chung, Norton dang ngay cang di xuong ve chat luong va ngay cang di len ve gia ca. Ko nen lua chon!

Norton Internet Security 2005

Pros: Easy to get

Cons: Terrible support, doesn't work

Norton Internet Security 2005 includes Norton Anti-virus, firewall, anti-spam, intrusion detection, etc. It doesn't work! And Symantec can't (won't) fix it.

The product allowed a particularly pernicious adware virus onto my system. It could not then remove it. I wrote to their customer (dis)service people. They cannot understand an email written in English. They keep sending canned replies and doing nothing.

They did eventually update the anti-virus component to recognize the virus, but left the alert on top of all the windows so it impacted everything I tried to do. They wouldn't fix that either.

After several months of emailing back and forth, I did a quick search on the web and found a free fix that removed the virus in ten seconds (the Norton scan took 20 minutes).

NIS is the 6th ranked product of its kind, and the higher ranked products are all less expensive.

AVOID SYMANTEC PRODUCTS AT ALL COSTS.
