   This film is one of the darkest black comedies ever and in it Spacey firmly establishes his name with the likes of De niro and Pacino, while Whalley and Forbes provide outstanding support. Everything about this film is perfect from start to staggering finish. YOU MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE! NOW!!!

   This is not really a comedy, there is barely a laugh in it. Why it was pitched as a wacky comedy is beyond me. What it is instead is a tour de force performance from Kevin Spacey as the maniacal Hollywood producer who spends most of the film finding the best ways to make his employees feel completely humiliated. Frank Whaley is excellent as his wannabe prodigee who has to learn the hard way what it takes to make it in Hollywood. Its a theme done before in many films, most obviously the Player, but this film succeeds even more than the Player because at its heart is a brutal core of cyncisim that is not funny, nor is it heart warming, its a dark kick in the guts. Sell your soul, give up on love, and you can have power instead. Buy it and share it around. For fans of Kevin Spacey and anyone who enjoys their coffee bitter and black. ...
