Pros: WET till you hear it! ;-)

Cons: SALIVA album? No its in the studio!!!

Finally the world can hear the latest new record from the most supreming band in all of the metal rock world of music. Do you like the twisted pain of "GO AHEAD AND ESCAPE"? Do you prefer the feeling similar to accidentally eating raw poiso...n instead of food from the song "YOU WONT BELIEVE YOUR EYE SOCKETS"? Or do you feeling like a leaking boat without an oar in the middle of a crocodile swamp like in the song "EXPRESSION OF STABBING PAIN"? Well forget about all of it because it's all in here. This is Saliva at there most amazing -- blistering fast solos that shred your face like a late night juice maker commercial that leaves only pulp inside of that little plastic cup off to the side of it (And you just drink the juice). The vocals of Vavlek Stoyniciak are like before -TOTALLY AMAZING. The song's are the best they of ever have wrote and you have to hear them to believe that they are real. If you can kick it up a notch and step up too the plate with the reigning master of molten brute force that also features opportunities to sing along and not just shake your head until you get injured, then this is the record you have been waiting for! It's THAT good! Read more Less

    Album Of The Year?

By Kevin S  Aug 16, 2004 | 1 out of 1 found this Survival Of The Sickest review helpful

    Pros: Saliva's strongest album yet!

    Cons: none

This album reminds me why Saliva truly exists. They wanted to get back to balls-out rock-n-roll, without the hip-hop stuff that broke them big. And they've done it in a big way! The title track (which is the first single) is the hit of the sum...mer, harkening back to Buckcherry's "Lit Up" in it's catchiness and playability. If you want a great balls to the wall rock and roll album, "Survival Of The Sickest" is it! Read more Less

  • All Music Guide

Saliva's third effort for Island Def Jam has completely excised the raprock overtones of their original model, adopting instead an amplified hard rock sound informed by the band's Southern roots. There's still some pandering to majorlabel stylistic cataracts "No Regrets, Vol. 2" and "Open Eyes" are forgettable plods comparable to postgrunge alsorans like Chevelle. But Saliva make up for it with a clutch of massively compressed hardhead rockers that revel in rock star debauchery even while railing against the plasticity of the industry. "You music business whores are all about just getting paid," frontman Josey Scott spits in opener "Rock Roll Revolution," and the song's sledgehammer rhythms are refreshingly at odds with Saliva's raprockcoddled past. But Scott can't completely dismiss success he happily revels in the twin guitars and twogirlsforeveryguy spoils of "One Night Only" and the title track. Other highlights include the patriotic rant "Two Steps Back" and "Razor's Edge," a f...aithful Lynyrd Skynyrd update featuring 3 Doors Down vocalist Brad Arnold. - Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide Read more Less
