Venezuelan Sur Carabela reunited local experienced musicians in a seven-piece trip-hop project influenced by major numbers in its genre. The group was led by composer/arranger Oswaldo Rodríguez and ex-Sentimiento Muerto bassist Ervin Shafer, aka Wincho. After the two were joined by Willy Díaz, Bernardo Rísquez, Lendell Clarke, singer Valeria García, and Emidio Falconi, aka DJ Baffa, Sur Carabela recorded its first album, called Debut. The album was released by Latin World and featured the hit single "Lejos de Aquí."
