I think santana is awsome. I love this cd!
Nice album. the singles were a big overplayed, but this is a good album. Gotta love Carlos on the strings.
I have heard this album and I don't remember hearing any rap songs on here. Which song has Rap? Say no to drugs.
I just saw the concert here in DC and relived the "Golden Age" of Rock. A 10 minute drum solo that followed a 10-minute Bass guitar solo. Carlos has put together the BEST three-hour Rock Act I've seen in 30 years. And the opening act was the Wailers who joined him on stage. If you want to know (or remember) what it was like to see the acts of the 60s and 70s before Big Business got a hold of Rock, go see this true Monster of Rock.
its not that good at all, this rap
Carlos Santana proves he still has skill after all these years on "Supernatural." I got this album as soon as it came out in June '99 because I read all the reviews and heard all the hype and buzz surrounding this album. And it didn't hurt that two of my favorite artists perform songs on this album with Santana. Rob Thomas (of matchbox twenty fame) and Dave Matthews. As soon as I heard the Brahms-esque notes of "Love of My Life" I knew that there was something special about this album. Then I got to "Smooth" a few songs later and realized just how talented Rob Thomas is. He is the best songwriter since Billy Joel, McCartney/Lennon and John Mellencamp when they were at the top of their game, no question. He can take his feelings, put them in a song and make you feel like it was written about you. Flash forward 3 months to September and this song is all over the radio and not too long after that Santana cleans up at the Grammys and the album is over 13 times platinum. Washed up??? HARDLY.
I brought the CD and still love it. This is what music should be like, not hype. All of the tracks are fabulous. Santana is the man.
Santana has been a talanted man. His music really inspires me and the duets he does with musical instruments is marvellous! I really cant describe it!
Recommended=)
Carlos Santana is a legend, and we see why on this album. I may be a little behind the pace, but I'll admit to not having heard Santana's earlier stuff til after I heard this. I've heard heaps now though, but this is him at his best. This is superb, featuring many great artists. Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty combined with the great guitarist to create Smooth, one of the world's favourite songs ever. Deservedly so too, it's not just a commercial mega hit, it's a great rock song. Everlast's Put Your Lights On is brilliant as well, another great rock song, although somewhat under rated by the public. At least here in Australia it was. Other famous artisists feature as well, providing an incredible variety of songs, while Santana's brilliant guitaring sings passionately in each song. And that's where the album is so good, a lot of variety, but all passionately played music at its very best. It deserves every bit of praise it's got.
Being a big Sanatana fan I have alot of favorites, but I put this one at the top of my list.
one of the most disapointing events in history of rock.
Santana keeps getting better and better. "Love of my Life" is my fav. on this album. Some of the songs sound a little the same, but diffrent at the same time. He's good, but it's not fair that he always gets the grammy every the time. Other artists deserve it just as much (excluding all "boy-bands" and "Brittny Spears" types).
my parnets and I can sit down a hear this one cd and agree that is a great Cd my mother like Smooth because she says "Carlos can make the guitar sing"
I say that I like this Cd because it shows you can make Old rock with the new R&B with Latin or with Pop. and all the rest of the music with the latin style is thanks to this Cd....
When I first heard this album, I thought,"this IS AMAZING!" Supernatural is the most critically acclaimed album in Grammy history and deservedly so! There are no subpar tracks, and "Smooth", "Love Of My Life", "Put Your Lights On", etc. were all just breathtaking! Plus there's a tuba player in the background on "Do You Like The Way" (I play the tuba and I really enjoyed hearing him). I'm glad I have this album. Viva Santana!
Is a fantastic album, but I do not believe is his best work. Classic rock albums like ABRAXAS, SANTANA 3, MARATHON, ZEBOP, and FESTIVAL are better albums and the Santana band is more apparent then in SUPERNATURAL. I am a huge Santana fan and love his music, but I do not think this is his best. I still rate it a 5 though.
I'll beg your pardon. This album is indeed disappointing. After having listened to great stuff from one of the best rock artist in the world I find this album commercial. Sorry, Carlos, I don't like it.
One star is too much... Sorry...
I like most of the collaborations he did, but I think he went a little bit too far. "Love of My Life" with Dave Matthews is kinda boring, "Put Your Lights On" is okay at first, but it drags on, and "Do You Like The Way" with Lauren Hill just plain sucks. The rest of the CD is flawless. "Smooth" is the best rock song I've ever heard, and "Maria Maria" is one of very few R&B songs that is actually GOOD.
How could you morons diss this guy.It shows that you people have no taste at all. He has some of the best talent I have ever seen. I mean, he came out with one of my favorite albums of 1999. That proves that 1999 was not a completely negative year for rock. In fact he added some life to the otherwise dying genre of rock. This CD is great. It's an album that anyone young or old can listen to. I own this CD and it was worth spending a fortune on.
Or maybe I'm just a few generations too late.
There are three songs I love on this album, and
unfortunately they are the songs played non stop, back-to-back
on the radio. It's not all the time I listen to
people when they are raving about an album, but I
listened when it came to this one--I figured after all the
awards it won and the applause it was receiving it had
to have been good.
I grew up hearing the old
Santana and I love it. So what's different about this new
album? I can't say. The instrumental songs are
beautiful, but some of those vocal songs just SUCK!!!
This is in some ways disgraceful to Carlos Santana music. It was much more substancial before. Disappointing.
Oh......and somehow Santana won a ton of Grammies with this album! I bought this for my mom for Christmas, and listened to it. I absolutely hate it! Only "Smooth" shows some potential, but thats next to nothing. Why did Santana catch on to this "Great Comeback thing"? I would have personnaly picked STEELY DAN. How 'bout you?
biever and cheral montgomery suck dick. The cd is awesome
Why did I buy this album? Save your money and go buy something good.
I hate this
It deserved the Grammy...one of the best rock albums of the 90's, with a Latin flair.
