Recalling the soul and funk of the 1970s, SuperHoney earned a small following playing around Boston in the late '90s. The six-member band (which was originally called Flunky) sometimes brought to mind the early recordings of Rufus and Chaka Khan, and its songs showed no awareness of 1990s trends in high-tech urban contemporary music.
