Bostonarea rapper Sullee (born Robert Sullivan) got his start while still in his late teens, forming his own label (Old South End) to release the 2004 debut It's Time and building buzz for the record with opening slots (for Lil Romeo, David Banner, and Funkmaster Flex, among others) as well as shows at local malls and street festivals. Sullee's sound was a slick and hookheavy, but still reminiscent of New York City; collaborators on his debut effort included famed producer Teddy Riley.
