| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Violin, viola, and cello interpret AFI's brand of punkpop for this entry in Vitamin's String Quartet Tribute series. "I Wanna Mohawk" draws from the band's 1995 debut Answer That Stay Fashionable and "I Wanna Get a Mohawk [But Mom Won't Let Me Get One]", though its stringladen churn is pretty far from the blustery hardcore of the original. The surging melodies of later AFI material like "Girls Not Grey" are more effective here. "This Celluloid Dream" and "Leaving Song, Pt. 2" are also highlights, but String Quartet Tribute to AFI is definitely more of a niche buy for the group's fanbase. - Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide |

Pros: Really cool idea, great music, good song choices
Cons: no screaming or any of the other crazy stuff usally assosiated with AFI
When you first listed to the tracks on this album, you're like, "no way this is an AFI song..." but then you start to really listen, and there it is. That violin playing for the electric guitar, a chello instead of an electric base, tiffanys instead of a base drum... what more can you ask for?
It might not be the crazy punk that you're used to, that make you drive faster, or nod yor head to the beat, or stuff you sing with your three crazy friends on your stoop as the friendly neiborhood kids jack the ice cream truck. But, its still a really cool album, and defenitly worth buying.
