    Pros: The First CD

Cons: Second CD is kinda iffy, but a majority was good

This is Nas's most mature album. I don't say this because his lyrics improved...I'm saying this to point out how Nas has matured as an artist. He has finally settled into the brimstone of Hip-Hop and has been praised as one of the most Lyrical and Powerful MC's in Hip-Hop history. If you haven't listened to this album, then i would listen to it. This album introduced me to the world of Hip-Hop!

My 5 out of 5 rating is because the album had more than 10 good (great) songs...Buy this album if you're a Nas fan!!

Pros: A little something for everybody...radio, street, political, love, etc.

Cons: some over produced tracks (3-4); No AZ

This is better than the Blueprint 2...comes to equal value of All Eyez on Me and Life After Death. Top 5 dead or Alive. The Prophet MC at his finest...may be his 3rd best offering ((1)Illmatic, (2)Stillmatic). Cop the CD and listen to Reason, Virgo, and Bridging the Gap

I love Nas and his albums never cease to amaze me. This one by far is the bomb. There are a lot a messages he delivers in his rhymes on disc 1 that have real meanings. Disc 2 shows a more personal side a Nas and has that old school feel. Nas has done it again.

Pros: His come a long way to chose the perfect beats for each tune

    Cons: No Cons

Nas has always been one of the best rappers and he keeps on proving it after Stillmatic. i thought he couldn't top stillmatic but the double album is just too fuckin good. its good that throughout all these years he still aint turned commercial and gone for the money, he talks sense in his tunes and its all about the lyrics with the exception of a few hype tunes that feat Ludacris and Busta. Basically Streets Disciple is the One for 2004.

    Cons: none

Nas is one of the best rappers that is out there. There are many good songs on this one such as "Disciple", "Bridging the Gap", "Theifs theme" and "Virgo" The song "U.B.R." is a good story telling of Rakim and "Making of a perfect Bitch" is also one my personal favourites. Any true Rap fan will appreciate this album.

Truly A Desciple Of The Streets

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 27, 2004

Pros: The Lyrics, About 23 Tracks (About 2 Skits), Great Guest Appearences, and Can Practically go through both discs without skipping a track.

Cons: Some beats are very basic, lacks very little, still a great album.

Nas is back, with a more real Hip-Hop. This is Hip-Hop in its truest and realest form. This album is absolutley fantastic. It shows his lyrical skills, and what an MC should be able to do. This is the definition of an MC. Starting with the music. I'll start with this minor Con I put own. Some beats are basic, with an "old school" mood to them. I still put a 5 star for it because there are just a few of them, and the beats are ery well done, with a certain mood to each fitting his lyrics perfectly. Some that were amazing and stood out were: Theif's Theme, Bridging The Gap, Suicide Bounce (Featuring Busta Rhymes), The Makings Of A Perfect B****, Nazareth Savage, Virgo (Featuring Ludacris and Doug E. Fresh), and Remember The Times. Of course others are great as well, but those stand out. Now with the lyrics. We all know that Nas is one of the lyrical greats of Hip-Hop. He can be fitted with others like 2pac, The Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z (despite their differences), Eminem (which had a problem with his last album with all the silly songs, but still decent enough), Big Pun, DMX, etc. The lryics are amazing, proves once again he s once of the greatest MC's that ever got into the game. Both the beats and the lyrics PERFECTLY fit together like a puzzle. His lyrics are deep are real. This is what hip-hop is. Overall this album is great. I havent heard a decent hip-hop album in a while. Some were good, but you probably would skip some songs. This album I can play both of the discs skipping nothing. This is what Hip-Hop is about. Nas doesn't get the credit he deserves. Today we concentrate on these MC's who just talk about money, what they have, and them getting all of the woman. Nas differs from them and doesn't get credit because he tells the truth because this is Hip-Hop. Artist like Mos Def and Talib Kwali are incredible, yet aren't given the respect they deserve. So thank you Nas for bringing a Hip-Hop record that isn't talking about the same things over and over. This is Hip-Hop, coming from one of the absolute best, one of the Street Disciples.

Nas is the best. He shows his range. He gets better with each release. Good thing Jay-Z retired because I don't think he could top this album even if he wrote the lyrics down. ;-)

Pros: He finally has a double album.

Cons: It's not the way his old music use to be.

Nas is a good artist and I'm his number one fan but I think he could of did much better. If you listen to all his other albums and this album you will notice a change in his music. His lyrics are the same and alot of people don't want to here all that political stuff all the time. So I think he should of did some of that AZ/Nas collaboration. When they get together they always bring some hot music.

Cons: Don't know if rap music can say anything new

No disrespect towards NAS or the people who enjoy listening to NAS, but a great Lyrisist NAS is not nor are any Rappers I have listen too except for Rakim maybe. You want great lyrics check out Vaughn Benjamin of the reggae group Midnite from Washington dc Via St.Croix VI. That is pure poetry. It says something about now, today, and makes you think about tomorrow.

    Pros: Great Lyrics, Beats, Style

    Cons: 3 bad tracks. Maxwell...

Wow. When I first placed the CD in my stereo I felt kind of dissapointed with what Nas created. I wasn't feeling it at first but once you hear a track its full length, you wont be able to stop listening to it. All of the tracks on this album are great. The ones that stand out are: Just a Moment, Getting Married, U.B.R., Live Now, These are our Heroes... ect. See what I mean? If I continue my list I would have the whole CD track listing just without 3 songs and 2 skits. You won't be dissapointed with this CD. Street's Disciple IS this generation's illmatic. Nas creates perfection again.

Nas puts out a well-rounded double disc

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 7, 2004

Pros: Lyrically on point for the most part and releasing an album that is rather revolutionary

Cons: Will not attract all audiences

Street's Disciple is definitely the best rap album of 2004. He touches upon a myriad of issues and maintains fluidity throughout. He starts off strong with "A message to the feds." Disc one is rather flawless and is filled with intuitive observations. Stand-out tracks include: Nazareth Savage, These are our heroes, Live now and Just a moment.

Disc two is where listeners might differ on opinion. Once again, Nas starts off with the hot track "Suicide Bounce" featuring Busta Rhymes. But songs like "Unauthorized biography of Rakim (U.B.R.)", "The makings of a perfect bitch", and "Me & you" discredit the album from a perfect ranking. Although the concept of UBR is clever, Nas fails to provide something worth listening to. Personally, I like "The makings of a perfect bitch" but others may be quick to call it a lack-luster song that lacks lyrical content. Also, we can praise Nas for the love he has for his daughter Destiny on "Me & you" but many will not enjoy Nas's sing-song voice on the track. On the other hand, other songs like "Remember the times", "Getting married", "War" and "Thief’s theme" make up for those weaker tracks.

Overall all, I would give the album a 4.5 out of 5. This is definitely an album for mature audiences, disheartened by the rappers of today who fail to see their power to reach out to their audience and convey a useful message.

Nas has been at the top of game since the release of Stillmatic in 2001. Albums such as "It Was Written" and "Nastradamus" were disappointing in context to the career of a brilliant street poet/journalist who took hip-hop to a new level with his classic "Illmatic" in 1994. However, Nas has recently taken a turn away from songs like "You Owe me" and videos like "Street Dreams." He's been awakened by phony rappers, corrupt politics, losing a mother and misdirected youth. Although he no longer has the same street insight of the 20 year old in "Illmatic", Nas is able to reflect on his past experiences and provide enlightening ideas to a music genre that is being threatened by "Bling-bling, womanizing, money and cars." Nas, without a doubt, is one of the best (if not the best) rappers of all time because of his ability to change from a disgruntled youngster from Queensbridge to a mature adult looking to settle down, still be able to spit street poetry and give food for thought.

    The Best

    Pros: The Whole ALbum

    Cons: ?

This is one of the greatest albums that he has ever done. I think lyrically this album was way better than what he put out compared to the last two albums. He says some amazingly deep lines and verses on this album. I have kept in my cd changer ever since I bought it. And I have been playing ever since.

Pros: 2 discs full of NASIR JONES; guest spots are thought out and not just added for sales

Cons: If you don't appreciate MUSIC/HIP-HOP stay away!

Nas has been the greatest MC since "Live at the BBQ" He's had a few mis-steps(Nastradamus...I
t Was Written) here and there but even those had lyrical gems on them worth listening to time and time again. Hip-Hop has been brainwashed by these "white/wack mc's" thinking that the garbage they are feeding the masses is music. STREET"S DISCIPLE is HIP-HOP in it's purest form! Do your self a favor and cop this disc...SUPPORT REAL MUSIC.

Reclaims his heir to the throne.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 5, 2004

Pros: NaS reclaims is throne with no questions asked!

Cons: Could have been put on one disc, instead of two. 2nd disc could have been music videos or "making of the album" dvd.

This is NaS best entry by far. The lyrics are very personal and yet reclaims his throne as New York's greatest. Lyrics appear to be freestyle which give that much more energy to the rhymes. Album is very political and speaks on issues that have been kept on the hush hush. The music is complete with deep hard bass lines, yet delicious to the ear. Can't wait till the next album, it may be difficult to exceed the expectations of this album. Definitly a hip-hop classic, so please add this one to your collection.
