    one for the ages

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 21, 2004 | 11 out of 11 found this Street's Disciple review helpful

Pros: song are deep, poetic, meaningful, and incredible lyrics

    Cons: its not crunk

this album, wow, what can i say...nas's street's disciple is one of the best albums i ever heard, i wouldn't compare it to anything else he made. the first disc is full of deep songs, from the intro to 'you know my style'(which is... probably the only bad song), the mood is slow tempo and eclectic-like, i never heard nas come like this.this album is like a book just waiting to be read, and read over and over again, u find all types of different things every time u listen to it... i notice that this albums song arrangement, and songs period, are all telling a story, its real deep, so if u are an aspiring writer, or artist period, u will have to have this one in your collection. even if you're not either, and you want good music, with incredible production, and different too...this in my opinion is the best album made in the last few years, get it...u will keep on listening to it. the second disc, this gets more in depth with nas, and where he is at now, getting married n all, but he doesn't make just those type of songs (which are made in a creative way also), he speaks about everything thats anything, he even has a song/autobiography on rakim on this disc, a song with doug e fresh and ludacris, called virgo(ie they are all virgo's), this disc is creative as well. its so many good songs on here, u will love the album as a whole, incredible! cuts for the gangstaz, the females, the people who struggle, the people who are looking for salvation in life, this is an album made for people period...get it! now! NAS IS COMPLETE

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 1, 2004 | 3 out of 3 found this Street's Disciple review helpful

    Pros: DISPLAYS LYRICAL GENIUS

    Cons: LACKS PRODUCTION VERSITILTY

NAS HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF THIS GENERATIONS BEST LYRISIST BUT A CASE COULD BE MADE THAT HE IS THE BEST OF ALL TIME MIGHT HAVE BEEN ANSWERED WITH THIS CD. IT IS WELL BALANCED AND SLAM REMY, LES, Q-TIP, AND OTHERS DID A MASTERFUL PRODUCTION JOB. I JUST... WISH HE COULD HAVE ADDED A SIGNATURE DJ PREMIER TRACK OR MAYBE EVEN PETE ROCK. WHO BY THE WAY, COLABORATED ON ONE OF THE BEST HIP HOP SONGS EVER PUT OUT, THE WORLD IS YOURS. I THINK ONLY THREE SONGS WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN OUT OR REMIXED, BUT OVERALL I GIVE THE CD 4.5 STARS. GREAT JOB NAS!!!! Read more Less

    Pros: Its NAS!

    Cons: some poor songs

I love nas. I got all of his albums. Not one has dissapointed me. I thought god son and stillmatic were masterpices. You could feel his vibe on thoes albums. Well on this im not relly fellin it. Dont get me wrong there are some tight cuts here (you k...now my style, briging the gap, our heros, and thiefs theme). But some of his lyrical choice is questionable. Nas keep it simple like on lost tapes. Just spit man. Some of the beats are garbage on hear too (american way). I love ya nas but maybe its time to take a brake. He should have scrapped some of these cuts and kept it a 1 cd album. If you dont listen to nas dont buy this album. If you want to hear what he has to offer buy lost tapes, god son, stillmatic, or illmatic. Dont start here. You will think hes weird. Seriously. Read more Less

    Pros: too many to count

Cons: a little too much love

Nas's latest album is typical Nas--anything but typical. He conquers different topics such as politics and a different kind of racism, while still showcasing his ability to flow lyrically on other songs. He said it best on "Disciple"-...-"This ain't jigga, this ain't 50, this ain't diddy, this ain't pretty" which pretty much explains why Nas is such a breath of fresh air to the rap industry. Everywhere you listen, you hear the same old flows, hooks, and beats...yet on Street's Disciple you get a variety of flows, hooks, and beats and Nas shines. It's far from a classic like Illmatic or Stillmatic, but its definitely not the lowpoint of his career like Nastradomous. It's a lot easier for rappers nowadays to just adapt to the blueprint of success that everyone follows, and Nas strays from that path thankfully. He bridges the generation gap with his old man, and on top of that he bridges the gap between the mainstream fans and the gully ones. There's never a dull moment in the album, even the sappy love songs are different from the typical G-Unit or Ja-Rule ballads. If you like Nas, you will definitely like this album, but if yo lean more towards the J-Kwon, Chingy, Nelly type music I would probably recommend staying away from this. This is an adult making mature hip-hop, something the golden child's been doing since he himself was a teenage. Read more Less

    Pros: THE ENTIRE TWO CDs!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cons: NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS is probably one of the BEST CDs in ANY industry to come out. This is NOT Illmatic... of course not. Just like Kobe is NOT Jordan. This is probably the BEST 2-set CD of rap. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT.

    Hip-Hop Head

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 20, 2006

    Pros: The First CD

Cons: Second CD is kinda iffy, but a majority was good

This is Nas's most mature album. I don't say this because his lyrics improved...I'm saying this to point out how Nas has matured as an artist. He has finally settled into the brimstone of Hip-Hop and has been praised as one of the most Ly...rical and Powerful MC's in Hip-Hop history. If you haven't listened to this album, then i would listen to it. This album introduced me to the world of Hip-Hop! My 5 out of 5 rating is because the album had more than 10 good (great) songs...Buy this album if you're a Nas fan!! Read more Less

Pros: A little something for everybody...radio, street, political, love, etc.

Cons: some over produced tracks (3-4); No AZ

This is better than the Blueprint 2...comes to equal value of All Eyez on Me and Life After Death. Top 5 dead or Alive. The Prophet MC at his finest...may be his 3rd best offering ((1)Illmatic, (2)Stillmatic). Cop the CD and listen to Reason, Virgo, ...and Bridging the Gap Read more Less
