Growing up in Oxon Hill, MD, just outside Washington, D.C., Dwayne Henry was first introduced to hiphop through his cousin, who, on his visits from Queens, would play him tapes of the popular party jams. Inspired by these, and by artists like Slick Rick and the Juice Crew, Henry began to take his first steps toward rapping when he performed in a highschool talent show and soon was performing at clubs both in D.C. and near his university in Rochester, NY.
