Greatest Matheson movie adaption ever!
The book was much better. It had more details and freaky stuff. However, the movie was excellent!! Very well done. Go see it, even better buy it!!!

The acting is great, the plot is interesting, and I don't mind watching it over and over again. The Sixth Sense is a better movie, but the whole magic of that is the ending. Once you see it, watching it a second time is not very interesting. This one is, so it is a good one to buy.

When I heard all the jumping hype about how absolutely essential it was to see Sixth Sense, I naturally went to the cinema. No surprise, I was disappointed. The film built itself up for an hour and a half, and then had one of the most lame, easily wrapped-up endings I've ever seen. Appart from "that twist" of course. (Bruce Willis is a ghost. Haha!) Stir of Echoes on the other hand, does everything Sixth Sense does, does it better in fact, and doesn't fizzle out like a wet lettuce at the end. If this film had Bruce Willis in it, people would've raved about it. A must see!!! And no, Kevin Bacon isn't a ghost.

This movie is a thriller like no other! It keeps you on the edge of your seat, almost jumpiing off at times! Kevin Bacon is great in this movie, and the little boy is adorable!

This is a supernatural thriller that has enought to engage the audience from the beginning to the end. I saw many people nervous while watching certain parts of it, guessing and wondering what would happen next. It is a wonderful movie. Though it is not as good as its competitor, 'The Sixth Sense', it is surely not too far behind. If you are into in this kind of movie, you won't be disappointed.

It is just as good as 6th Sense, in it's own right. It has been overlooked by many. There are many odd events that go on, but in the end, they all are tied together in a nice, neat little package. Kind of like a Seinfeld-episode: as far as story lines go. It has become one of my all-time favorites.

Ok, this movie was nothing like Sixth Sense. For example, the violence and gore in Sixth Sense was a lot more meaningful than in Stir of Echoes. Stir of Echoes, had a lot of uneccesary violence but was pretty freaky. I suggest this movie to someone who has a good tolerance for scary things, and stuff that's just... just weird. It kept me off the edge of the couch for the whole thing. So if you think you can handle this movie, go and see it, just be ready for it.

Being a huge fan of Richard Matheson, I was reluctant to see this film. Given the hideous versions of "What Dreams May Come" and the abominable "Omega Man" allegedy based on "I Am Legend" In fact the only adaptation I have liked of any of his work was the splendid "Somewhere in Time". I read "A Stir of Echoes" several years ago. I am as impressed with the film as I was with the book. The film is a mystery much more than a ghost story. David Koepp used Matheson's immersion techniques to let you identify and care about the people in front of you. Kevin Bacon is impressive as Tom Witzky, a father and husband who often feels the wieght of unchanging surroundings and wishes for a change. The change comes at a party when he volunteers to be put under hypnosis, and thrust through the doors of alternate preceptions. Echoes is a creepy film, perhaps more so to anyone who has children. This is one of the best genre films I have seen in a while. It ranks with Angel Heart, The Prophecy, and Jacob's Ladder. The DVD itself is my only problem. Too few features.

The only thing that bothered me about this movie is the bad continuity between scenes. There were some bad editing choices and it leaves the watcher confused and disoriented. Also, I ended up hating his wife for not understanding his situation better. Otherwise, it is pretty freaky and suspenseful. I didn't think it was as good as Sixth Sense, but maybe that's because I saw that one first.

This is one of the MOST suspenseful movies I've ever seen!! I'm a big horror/suspense fan and I've seen a lot of movies, but this has a really cool twist to it and it keeps you on the edge of your seat!! Better than the Sixth Sense, too!!!
