Synopsis: Stiff Upper Lips (1999)

Synopis: It's 1908. The height of the British Empire. Good news for the Upper Classes and Merchant Ivory. Bad news for everyone else. Aunt Agnes is desperate to marry off her niece Emily to a respectable, proper, wealthy man with the right background, and Cedric seems the answer... except that Emily hates Cedric and Cedric may be more interested in her brother Edward...    This was a great film I saw on Masterpiece Theatre, though it was quite unexpected. It's humorous look at 1908 British Upper Class is wonderful. If you look carefully you will see the satirical references to such films as "Howard's End" and "A Room With a View." Be warned-it's humor is sexy, almost raunchy. Some may feel it is too much. I loved it, and it's a great film for college aged and the younger adult generation. ...
