Chalk up another victory for the Roc...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 31, 2002

I can't honestly say I was surprised with the quality of this album. State Property is everything I thought it would be from all angles. The lyrics, production, and raw gutter format of this entire album is worth the sticker price. Alot of people hate on Roc-a-fella, but this album shows that the Roc isn't all about the money, cars, jewels, and "Girls, Girls, Girls." There isn't one commercial track on the album; except maybe the lead single "Rock the Mic" - and even that song's lyrical content is as gutter as ever. These artists are hungry... maybe even starving to be heard by the world - you can hear it in their voices and delivery (Even Sigel who has sold about 1.8 million recors in two years). To me, Sigel, Freeway, and Omillio Sparks steal the show. Sigel's ability to keep his hunger as one of the lead artists on arguably the most successful rap label on the planet is unparalleled. Freeway probably has the most unique flow and voice in the game; he shows absolutely no concern for a consistent rhyme scheme as he can rhyme one word for a whole song, or even rhyme every word in a bar before the verse is over - he's sick! And Sparks is real. His lyrics are raw, and his flow takes some getting used to (really a little funny) because he'll pause for half a bar, then squeeze almost two bars into the other half - I can't really explain it, you gotta hear him. Neef, Oschino, and Chris also hold it down. It's hard to believe Chris and Neef are still in high school. Also, don't sleep on my boy N-O Joe from Houston (Texas: we're making major moves); he produced one of the best tracks on the album, "No Glory." If you like raw lyrics, grimey production, and hungry artists who can really spit, go get the album. Holla Back!

Great Album if ya like da Roc

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 31, 2002

Aight heres the only review youll need if ya wanna buy this album, ok here it goes, ive been listening to the last Beanie Siegel album for the past month and i fell back in love with it so buyin this album for me was a no brainer, this album is so great, its everything i expected, its got raw cuts, great beats, its got that rugged philly sound to it if you dont like siegel than you wont like this Freeway, Oskino, Sparks, Neef and Chris come through and are a better group i feel in my opinion than D12 and St. Lunatics combined due their realness they rap about real stuff not things that dont actually happen in their lives, the first single is so tight its off tha hook, if ya like siegel get the album period the end if not do not attepmt to get it whatso ever, thats just my thoughts what i was feelin at the time
