    His Name Is Alive takes a trip through the sixties, and is only partially successful. There are homages to girl groups and the Beach Boys, gospel and guitar rock, all filtered through Warren Defever's unique sensibilities. While making HNIA's debt t...o "Pet Sounds" more overt is successful, and the ragged gospel sound is used surprisingly well, some of the other fusions seem overly contrived, never gelling as well as one might hope. Still, this is HNIA's most accessible album, and not a bad place to ease into their unique sound world. Read more Less

    This is a truly unique pop-record with all its dreamy and chaotic involvements. There is a slight change in direction, if you give a listen to previous albums, with more guitar based material which led the path to sudden 60s pop music feel. But to s...tay unpredictable and at times very comic (The Beech Boys), Warren Defever, Karin Oliver and the rest gave way to gospel singer Lovetta Pippen who only improved the group's eclecticism with her astonishing vocals.
