Formal Connections

Vocalist Starleana Young joined Slave with Steve Arrington in 1978. She left a year later with founder Steve Washington and Tom Lockett to form Aurra. Their biggest hit was "Make Up Your Mind," which reached number six on the RB charts in 1981 for Salsoul. Young and Jones formed Deja in 1987. They scored a number two RB single, "You and Me Tonight," for Virgin in 1987, and the follow-up single, "That's Where You'll Find Me," reached 17.
