Synopsis: Star Trek: Voyager - The Complete First Season (1995)

Synopis: The third spin-off of the original STAR TREK series, STAR TREK: VOYAGER centers on the Federation starship USS Voyager as its crew bands together with a group of Maquis rebels to return home from the far-flung Delta Quadrant. Starring Kate Mulgrew as the Voyager's captain Kathryn Janeway and Robert Duncan McNeill as the spaceship's pilot Tom Paris, the series' cast is rounded out by Robert Beltran as Maquis commander Chakotay, Tim Russ as Vulcan security officer Tuvok, Garrett Wang as navigator Harry Kim, Robert Picardo as the hologram Doctor, and Roxann Dawson, Jennifer Lien, and Ethan Phillips as alien crew members B.L.T., Kes, and Neelix. This collection includes all 15 episodes from the series' debut season.

   Pros: Full Screen gives a nice big picture.

   Cons: What are we missing?

   Being a liflong Star Trek fan, I recently purchased the Voyager, Season 1. I was thrilled that it finally came out on DVD. I think they waited too long for this release. So much for that point.
   
   I opened the package and was taken back at what looked like a real cheesy packaging gimmick but what the heck, "It's Voyager." The real shock came when I put the DVD into the player and started the first episode.
   
   I looked twice as the "Caretaker" started and pondered what I missed because the DVD was showing in full picture format and not letterbox format. Well, i did not miss anything - Paramount obviously did!
   
   Let me ask a question. What is missing in this DVD Paramount? No answer? How about widescreen versus full screen? What were you thinking when you put this DVD together? You cheated on the production and charged us more than any other Start Trek series.
   
   Paramount, please rethink your premise and reissue all other Voyager series in wide screen as well.
   
   If you are a Trek fan, buy it. If not, buy it anyway. Kate Mulgrew is great. ...
