This is a great Star Trek Movie! Nicholas Meyer co-wrote and directed this film! Star Trek VI Director Nicholas Meyer captures the true essense of what the original Star Trek is all about! Captain Kirk (William Shaner) and DR. McCoy (Deforest Kelly in his very last Star Trek performace!)are framed for the Murdur of Klingon Chancelor Gorgon (David Warner) It is up to Captain Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and the rest of the USS Enterprise crew to prove of Kirk and McCoy's innocence. Mr. Sulu (George Takei) Becomes Captain Sulu of the USS Excelsior! Christopher Plummer (General Chang) plays the main villian in this film who tries to stop Kirk and Enterprise from interupting the assination of the Klingon Chancelor's Daughter. Great film! (A+)
Thoroughly enjoy this film. It has humour, action, suspense, great SFX and visuals, quite an involved plot and true Star Trek character interactions(the meat of the tv series) throughout. Really enjoy seeing Christopher Plummer eat up the film as the villain. He is having a blast. Read Shatner's book for some great behind-the-scenes snippets on this one. Well worth seeing! One of my favourites of the series.
The cold war allegory in this film works well, but I've personally never liked the Klingons. They just don't make for interesting adversaries. On the plus side though: that wonderful music score and the rura penthe photography - spectacular! What really lets it down is the weak ending. Not a patch on Star Trek II
I think the Original Star Trek is the best Sci-Fi series that was ever produced. Gene Roddenberry kept all the episodes concurrent, if when He did the Star Trek movies. The Undiscovered Country I think is the best so far. The Final Frontier is also great. I just like the Enterprise Crew. Sure hate Lenard McCoy died. Not a one of the crew can ever be replaced.
the sci fiy was very good
This has everything that Star Trek should have: drama, humor, action, great character interactions, and a story that parrallels today's (well, a couple of years ago anyway)headlines. Makes me wish they could have more come out with the original cast (not just cameos).
It really wasn't. For a final corny, Star Trek
episode, this one had some heart. There was a semi-decent
storyline about a Klingon peace treaty being endangered
when The Enterprise mysteriously opens fire on it.
Kirk and Bones are sentenced to life on a Klingon ice
prison camp, while Spock's forced to investigate. All
the old crew joins in to help defend the captain,
even the new Captain Sulu.
Spock develops a
semi-love interest/ infatuation with a young, attractive
Vulcan, and reveals a hint of the emotion he would later
display in the classic Next Generation episode which
would mark his final appearance in video
Trek.
The special effects aren't great, the dialogues
somewhat campy, but this movie had some of the heart of
the original episodes and is an overall enjoyable
experience for Trekkies. Plus it's good enough for the rest
of the world to get through.
Action Packed. Great effects and what a way for the last classic movie.
