This a good Star Trek Movie but not better then Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock has some great elements in its script, special effects, and has many shocking surprises. But it doesn't deliever a great performance by the original cast. Don't get me wrong! This was not a bad film but I felt it could have been better. Leonard Nimoy does a great job with Directing Star trek III but he doesn't have Nicholas Meyer's ability to direct a great script to film. But I will give this movie 3 stars because I do find it enjoyable and it will please any Star Trek fan but slightly.
Never sure I agree with resurrecting characters, BUT this film really is excellent on it's level. Expect some plot surprises. Christopher Lloyd is a very amusing and convincing Klingon nutball. Oh what a great stress release the big fight sequence in this one is-magnificent special effects throughout and notable for the most heartrending visual in Star Trek history-the final moments of the you-know-what.
Appaling film which makes a mockery of Trek II and makes it look like Citizen Kane! Shatner still can't act, and.... oh I can't be bothered with a long list of criticisms. Suffice to say this: What was the point? Also, James Horner gets a slap on the wrist for being lazy and not composing any new music for the film!
Star Trek III is at strong follow-up to the awsome Star Trek II. The story is good and plays itself well. Christopher Lloyd suprisingly plays a good Klingon. This one doesn't count for the Star Trek odd numbered curse.
Granted it was Leonard Nimoy's first directing
attempt, I thought the film could've been a bit better.
Nimoy gives this Trek a feel reminiscent of The
Original Series in that the Enterprise crew are on a quest
for something. And also, provides a way to continue
the franchise and get Spock back. :)
One thing
is that the film seems to demonize the Klingon's.
All the scenes with the Klingons are of a secretive
and evil manner. Christopher Lloyd's
character(Kruge)doesn't seem like the typical Klingon we have come to
known. He authorizes the murder of David Marcus, which
would be dishonorable according to Klingon custom. But,
they weren't really focused on in ST I (where we first
see them in the beginning), but it does set things up
for the "race" issue being brought up in ST
VI.
James Horner (Titanic) returns to give a score which
improves the movie somewhat.
Not as good as ST II,
but still a good effort for Nimoy (who comes back and
delivers a great movie in ST IV).
This is the third 1nstallment and one of the best
of the Star Trek movies released to this day.
The basic story is set straight after it's
predecessor Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. With Spock dead
and the Genisis project to create life on a desolate,
lifeless world now become known to the Klingons there is a
very personal race against time for Jim Kirk to save
the life of Spock and his son David who is on the
planet that is picked for the Genisis project and under
the threat of being killed by the Klingons.
With great acting (with Robin Curtis playing a MUCH
better Lt. Saavik than Kirsty Alley), good effects and a
good storyline with gripping action scenes and film
dialogue this has got to be one of my personal favourites.
Apart from First Contact and The Undiscovered Country
this has got to be the best Star Trek movie made, a
must see for all Star Trek fans throughout the world
and the universe . . . .
If you know and love the crew of Enterprise, you will feel right at home with all your friends and rush to buy the Voyage Home!
