    Pros: Great characters and story

Cons: Needs to be remade and reintroduced to new viewers

The characters in this movie is what makes this movie come alive. Combined with a good story line and good actors (even if almost all are unknown)this makes for a movie that everyone will enjoy. One con however, the sarcastic humor and 1940's situations of these prisoners could be lost on a younger generation. But... If one can get past the black and white of the film, you will not be disappointed; young or old alike.

    The Form of entertainment!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 9, 2000

Stalag 17 is the best movie I have ever seen. I have seen quite a number too. The most significant characteristic about Billy Wilder's production is the storyline. Stalag 17 is based on a play by Donald Bevan and Ed Trzcinski which transfers perfectly into film. This suspenseful gem prances along and a most enjoyable rate. Holden's portrayal of Sgt. Seftin is probably the best starring job filmed. Great character acting by an obscure cast makes the two hour WWII themed production so entertaining that when you see "The End" brought up on the screen, your heart feels a bit empty. You know, the same feeling you get when you finish a great ice cream cone. This is a solid movie. Most entertaining and a storyline with no flaws.

    Excellent Movie starring Bill Holden

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 26, 2000

Hogan's Heroes was based off of this movie. It may not be as funny as Hogan's Heroes, but it does add suspense, and keeps you wondering all throughout the movie. Once you think it's one person who's being the snitch, it's someone else. About half way through the movie, you know who it is, and it's very interesting to find out what happens. Watch this movie starring William Holden, and Peter Graves.
