Pro Reviews: Staatsfeind Nr. 1

  • All Music Guide

In the wake of his mainstream breakthrough in 2004 with Electro Ghetto, Bushido drew so much controversy, he titled his mainstream followup Staatsfeind Nr. 1, which translates to "Public Enemy, No. 1." Another commercial blockbuster for Bushido, the album is a collaborative effort featuring a pair of Top 20 hit singles ("Endgegner" and "Augenblick"), plus the standout title track. As he had for Electro Ghetto, Bushido once again outsources the production duties, this time collaborating primarily with Beatlefield, a duo comprised of Chakuza and DJ Stickle. There is a long list of guest features, including Baba Saad (who appears four times), Chakuza, Eko Fresh, J.R. Writer (of the American rap group Diplomats), and Cassandra Steen (who had sung on the Electro Ghetto hit single "Hoffnung Stirbt Zuletzt").
