Pros: 2 great bands on 1 cd

    Cons: none

wow, let me start by saying that this is absolutly amazing. i love every song on here. i do have to say that one man army is being given enough credit. All anyone keeps talking about is alkaline trio and they're not even giving OMA a chance. I lo...ve their street punk sound. The songs are really catchy and addictive and they have a good ammount of ramones influence in their music and cmon who doesn't love the ramones. My favorite song by OMA was the TV song but every song is great.Alkaline Trio out did themselves on this album as well. It was a lot better than good mourning. matts voice is a lot better on this album. Sadie was just an amazing song. Just like OMA every song is amazing. Also Alk3 released warbrain on Rock against bush and is one of my favorite songs now.buy this cd... and oh yea get bush out of office get out their and vote.He is completly ruining our country with the war in Iraq. we are the most hated country in the world and it is all his fault. NOFX said it best "Somewhere in Texas there is a village withouts its idiot" so get the idiot out of office in 2004 and buy this cd while ur at it Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Split Series 5

  • All Music Guide

Volume five of LA punk imprint BYO's Split Series features Bay Area punk revivalists One Man Army matching wits with maudlin Vagrant Records heroes Alkaline Trio. Each band gets six songs, "Hating Every Minute" and a cover of the Damned's "Wait for the Blackout" highlighting Alkaline's set, and OMA turning it on with "T.V. Song" and "Radio Airwaves Gave Me a Lobotomy". Both groups stick to their trademark sound, with Alkaline Trio frowning while smoothing the ends of ragged postpunk, and One Man Army showing more flair for scraggly melody than Tim Armstrong singing in the shower. Recommended.

Formed by ex-Jerkwater drummer Matt Skiba (vocals/guitar), Glenn Porter (drums/vocals) -- formerly of 88 Finger Louie -- and Rob Doran (bass/vocals), the Alkaline Trio were brought together in 1997 by heartbreak, angst and the companionship of drinking.
