A great movie to inspire the dreamer in
This is a nice and simple romantic movie that tugs at your heart strings and inspires you to dream and not be afraid of taking a chance at falling in love. Plus, it provides you with tons to laugh about. Both main characters have such beautiful personalities, charming and exciting at the same time; it's hard not to fall in love with either one. And the funny antics of the supporting cast just helps put the icing on the cake to round up a very enjoyable and fun movie. You rarely get to experience an unpretentious, heartwarming, cute love story like Splash nowadays.

This was the first movie that gave tom hanks recognition as a serious dramatic actor. I loved it from beginning to end and still have not seen a movie with such creative special effects. I mean without computers. The only thing I found Ironic is that the movie is centered around the mermaid, played by Darryll Hannah, and Hanks' career is jump started , but not hers. How many other movies can you tell me that had Hannah as the lead. And I think that they both did a great job in bringing this movie to life. The only other mermaid flick that i know of is The Little Mermaid, but I think this one will stand the test of time.
