Spider and the Webs came together in Olympia, WA during the summer of 2004. The psychedelic punk act formed around Tobi Vail (Bikini Kill, Frumpies, the Go Team) and James Maeda (Serum Greys), adding Chris Sutton (C.O.C.O., Dub Narcotic Sound System, Nudity) to complete the roster. Vail handled singing and playing guitar while switching up on drums with Sutton, who also played bass; Maeda stuck with guitar. The trio debuted in October 2006 with the foursong EP Frozen Roses.
