Peter Van Riper was an artist and musician who worked with light and was among the first to work in holography. In the late '60s, Van Riper and artist Gerry Pethick teamed with laser physicist Lloyd Cross (a former classmate at Cranbrook) to form the first company dealing with holographic art.
