    TR3A ultraportable, ultracapable

    Pros: Tiny, powerful, versatile, WiFi

    Cons: Weird keyboard, some port locations

    I bought this computer for ultraportability - I can pack it in one case with a small LCD projector and accessories, and still use a carry-on for clothing when I go on the road to provide training services. This computer exactly fills that bill - it i...s powerful enough for business, includes many useful features like 40GB HD, DVD viewing and CD buring for long flights and data backup, lots of connections (811.b, iLink [Firewire], USB2, VGA out, phoneline, network, audio in/out, PCMCIA.) Software you may use is already onboard - Office 2003 60-day trial, which you can convert easily to any Office version online, for instance. The screen is awesome., camera is "nice".Areas for improvement: chiclet-soft keys on crowded keyboard with grey nonstandard font characters make it hard to read, use. Some ports are in inconvenient locations, cables can get in the way. Speakers are very tinny sounding. No manual, backup software or OS CDs - this is ridiculous, Sony! Ultra-expensive accessories until competitors bring some out. Do buy a small (non-OEM costs less) USB hub for expansion or use with serial / parallel accessories and ear / headphones. I do highly recommend this computer for road warriors who need to conserve space. Read more Less

    Screen is a nightmare..Sony doesn't stand behind

    Pros: It is light and wireless is easy

    Cons: Screen breaks easily if touched. No warning label!

    This machine is too fragile for most people who might accidentally touch the screen while opening or closing or adjusting. A single thumb print on the screen costs $724.00 to repair and Sony takes no responsibility. Their attitude when notified ab...out the problem was arrogant. This evidently happens quite often and is obviosly a money maker for them. There is no warning label on the screen and the margin of error is so small as to make the machine extremely vulnerable.The numerals 5 and 6 on the keyboard look too much alike and are easy to confuse unless you touch type. I am so disapponted because its lightness and overall functionality is otherwise fine. But the risk of an unexpected big bill should weigh heavily on any potential purchaser. Read more Less
