I used to do a lot of taping and dubbing so when my two ancient VCRs - (A Sears brand and an RCA) finally decided to give up the ghost after many faithful years of service I went online to find replacements. I was surprised to find very few VCRs available that did not have a DVD player attached so when I found the SLVN750 model by Sony I headed for the nearest Circuit City. The salesman praised the model, claiming to be delighted with the one that he himself had bought only a week earlier so I bought 2 and took them home.Setup was straightforward but from day one I noticed a problem with tracking and the quality of the actual recordings themselves. I assumed the tracking problems were the result of viewing a tape which had been recorded on another machine but the worst tracking problems of all resulted from playing tapes on the same machine that recorded them! Quality of recording was very grainy on both machines, poor on SP and terrible on SLP which, coupled with the constant rolling, untrackable picture made the final outcome virtually unwatchable. Then one of the VCRs developed the habit of turning itself off whenever it felt like it and at certain times of the day the clock on the front resets itself to 5 hours earlier and then will later reset itself once again to the proper time. In a nutshell - I made the mistake of buying these items based on a name that used to mean quality and what I brought home turned out to be little more than $150 worth of junk - a total waste of money that has convinced me of one thing - that I will probably never spend another coin on any Sony product ever again... So if you find yourself in need of a new VCR - Do yourself a favor - Run for your lives and avoid this model like the plague! Good going, Sony. ...

Pros: ?
Cons: It worked for only 8 months
After that, the remote stopped working, and it ate my tape so now I can't use it at all. I thought Sony put out quality stuff. Guess not.
