Pros: sony quality, easy of use

i bought this recorder after much research and shopping on line on 29jan05 and i am a happy customer.
i was somewhat worried that hooking up the recorder to the digital cable box would be a challenge but the express instructions made that very easy.
the manual, i found, easy to use.
i have started the process of transferring vhs tapes to cd and wish there was a pause button with this recorder that i read the jvc recorder has but i am working around that little problem.
overall, i am very happy with this sony product. it may have been on the pricey side (i got a good deal at circuit city and noticed the price had gone up the next day!), but
i believe the sony quality is worth the peace of mind and the somewhat higher cost for the recorder.
p.s. i did call sony support for a question that i anticipated knowing the answer to but wanted to hear the answer from sony support, and found the person helpful and friendly.

Pros: Records and plays back both - and + discs

Cons: user's manual could have been simplified

I read for about a month on DVD recorders before I purchased this one. I would find one that had one thing I wanted and didn't have something else. I downloaded the user's manual and read it before purchasing the unit. I have had mine about 6 weeks now and so far everything has worked just like it's suppose to. I'll admit I was kinda scared when I got it because I had heard so much negative feedbacks about all of the DVD recorders. I think I made a wise choice in my selection. It did cost a little more than some of the other brands, but hey, you know the old saying "You get what you pay for".
