Sony RDR-GX315 DVD Player

VERY SLOW

Pros: It works.

Cons: SLOW, among other things.

The Sony RDR-GX315 works, but I am very disappointed with the following: 1) All operations are VERY SLOW (such as getting the DVD tray to open), as if the player is running a really bloated computer program to control its features. 2) When you press ...the Pause button, play does stop, but only for about 5 minutes or so, and then resumes again on its own. I hate this! When I pressed Pause on my old player, it stopped and remained stopped for as long as I wanted (and displayed a screen saver after 5 minutes or so). I thought this might be a configurable thing, but it isn't. 3) When you press the "next scene" button, it skips the first fraction of a second of the audio portion of that scene. My old Sony DVD player (which could not record) was much faster and had none of these problems (using the same DVDs of course). I get the sense that Sony was in so much of a hurry to manufacture this product that they didn't do a lot of QA. I bought it because of the name......now I regret my decision.
